The gatherings have largely vexed the last two mayors and three Chicago Police Department superintendents. Strategies to handle the youth meet-ups are among the criteria being used to grade candidates for the CPD superintendent job.
Viral cellphone video and news footage of the chaos from April 15 once again renewed criticism of the city’s efforts to tamp down violent crime.
Meanwhile, the police department has opened an internal investigation to probe allegations that officers failed to intervene after they saw a couple being attacked by a mob of teens.

It used to be that nothing was allowed in the loop. All the murders and violence you wanted could happen outside the loop but the loop was a green zone. When I was in college in Chicago (in the loop) two men were arguing in a restaurant, the owner called the police and within a minute there were 10 cops there, but that was in the 90s.

Police are powerless against the people but by self-compliance. Teach civics, history again. Curfews and machibe guns wont keep animals down, only civility will. Parents have permitted their children to become animals, and they don’t know better. No enemy here but our laziness.

Also worth noting: The "teens" behave like this in their own neighborhoods, and now also downtown. But not in Mexican neighborhoods, not in Chinatown, not in the remaining White Ethnic enclaves.

Among the hundreds of videos I have seen I have only seen one instance of “teens” of the latino persuasion ransack a store in Los Angeles. I feel safe in assuming the “teens” are of the melanated time terrorizing Chicago’s green zone.
