Six people were confirmed dead in a series of highway collisions Monday in rural Illinois that were blamed on a blinding dust storm, authorities said.

More than 30 people, ages 2 to 80, were hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening, Illinois State Police Maj. Ryan Starrick said at an early evening news conference.

Huh, 200 miles north the Mississippi is flooding.

Prayers for those lost and their families.

It wasn’t a dust “storm”

It was small localized areas of blowing dust from the farmers plowing their fields next to the interstate on a windy day

True

But you should see all the libtards on Twitter , identified by the blue wave symbols or Ukrainian flags in their bio, saying that this “dust storm” was another example of extreme weather caused by climate change

Pretty late in season to be PLOWING.

May have been doing some fieldwork-—but I don’t think it was plowing.

A repeat of the 1930’s.

My father told the story of the day he got caught in the first big dust storm.

Southern Wisconsin.

It was so blinding that he went to the nearest hotel (he was traveling out of Chicago).

The dust was so bad that it was coming in the cracks around the windows.

He took all of the blankets, sheets, etc., off the bed and stuffed them around the windows as best he could....and waited it out.

The idiots that will blame it on global warming don’t have any idea what they are talking about.

The weather is like a merry-go-round...just stand there long enough and the white pony comes around again.

So today’s climate change was already active in the 1920s and 1930s? (Actually they say lack of rain and man’s soil tillage processes made it worse. Solution was when rain came back to normal levels years later.)

The scene 20 seconds into this is terrifying to contemplate.

It was the wind picking up dust/dirt from freshly plowed fields

It has been rather dry the past week and over the weekend Rather windy
Which also helped dry out the soil

Then today winds of 45-50 mph caused localized areas of blowing dust mostly near these plowed fields

“May have been doing some fieldwork-—but I don’t think it was plowing.”

Trust me, here in Illinois the farmers are plowing right now. We’ve had a couple of hard freezes in the last couple of weeks. When we drove through DeKalb County last week we noticed all the equipment staged up and ready to go.

Huh, 200 miles north the Mississippi is flooding

That’s purely from the heavy and late melting snowfall in MN/WI

They are lucky it’s been rather dry up that way otherwise they would have been in big trouble

Here in NE Ohio we had a hard frost 3 days ago and sleet today.

And we have had so much rain this spring I doubt anyone has been able to get in their fields.

You seem to have a visceral hatred of Ukraine; or, is it an unrequited love for Russia?

The “tell” was your labelling as libtards those people who display a Ukrainian flag in their bio. Must you view everything through the lens of the Russo-Ukraine War?

Who says I hate Ukraine

I have yet to see one conservative on twitter with a Ukrainian flag in their bio

And the ones that do often have it paired with the democratic blue wave flag and/or the rainbow flag and/or a BLM symbol

Many others have also noticed this

Or do you really think farmers plowing fields the past couple of days combined with a very windy day combined with people driving too fast into the dust didn’t cause this and climate change did

“Who says I hate Ukraine.”

Your posting history.

“I have yet to see one conservative on twitter with a Ukrainian flag in their bio.”

Well, I’m not on Twitter so I can’t say one way or the other; but I would not make the leap to declare no conservatives display a Ukrainian flag. It’s anecdotal, but a friend of ours down the street is VERY conservative — MAGA all the way — yet has a small Ukrainian flag in her window.

“Or do you really think farmers plowing fields the past couple of days combined with a very windy day combined with people driving too fast into the dust didn’t cause this and climate change did.”

Absolutely not. I live in Illinois; I know how fickle the weather here is. So-called “climate change” had nothing to do with this incident. Windy conditions and loose or turned topsoil is known to create such conditions, and I suspect that was what happened in this instance.
