Federal prosecutors are dropping corruption charges against Andrew Gillum — the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial nominee who narrowly lost to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — after a jury acquitted him on one count and hung on remaining charges that he pocketed campaign cash and illegally receiving gifts, including theater tickets to "Hamilton."
Prosecutors initially said they would retry Gillum after a jury acquitted him on one count of lying to the FBI but failed to reach a verdict on 17 counts of wire fraud and a wire fraud conspiracy count at the conclusion of his May 4 trial. However, on Monday, the prosecution filed a one-paragraph motion that asked a judge to dismiss the remaining charges against Gillum and his co-defendant, Sharon Lettman-HIcks.

Actually went to see Hamilton in New York City with my daughter, right before COVID hit. I was 100% sure it would suck but it was incredibly well done and I would definitely see it again.
I can understand the acquittal on the charge of ‘lying to the FBI’ since they are the only LEOs I’m aware of that do not actually record interviews, but rather rely on agents’ ‘notes’ of the interview. That alone would induce ‘reasonable doubt’ for me at least.
But I’d think that evidence of ‘wire fraud’ would be pretty cut and dried. For the jury to be ‘hung’ on all 17 counts tells me either the prosecution was less than complete or that the jury had some members who refused to convict Gillum for one or more reasons that had nothing to do with the charges.
Wasn’t he in possession of crack? Cocaine at that gay party where a guy died?
Naked and passed out covered in his own and his male whore’s body fluids (blood, semen, used condoms covered in fecal matter- all photographs were put on the local internet in Miami). Gillum is a Gollum, pure and simple- and NO amount of acquittals will correct this fact. A criminal socio-and possible psychopath. And yes—Trump people in FL made sure Gillum lost to DeSantis. Something Ron should re-examine. Trump and Ron are unstoppable as a team, as long a Ron rejects Karl Rove and the remnants of the FL JEB!/Charlie Crist RINO/fag alliance machine. The office seekers of the FL gubmint machine.
Gillum’s misconduct was part of wide scale dishonesty in local government circles in the city of Tallahassee and Leon County. A handful of other officials and political figures were convicted, but Gillum has now walked because of support from the Black community and a lack of belief in the honesty of the FBI when the case went to trial.
But they’ll persecute George Santos
