A mistake listing every Nassau County registered voter as blue had many — especially Republicans — seeing red.
Many voters in the GOP-leaning Long Island county got their voter ID cards in the mail on Tuesday, and a half-million who got their cards saw a pretty glaring typo: All the cards say voters are registered Democrats, when in fact they might be Republican, independent or members of another political party.

They weren’t supposed to execute that vote switching subroutine until election day. Oops.
That’s just what I was thinking. This “MISTAKE” was done so that primary voters will be turned away at the Republican Primary as not being eligible to vote in the primary because they are registered as Dem. If, as stated in your post, they can not reregister as Republican this close to the primary, it would indicate a “mistake” by design to cause the chaos at the polls on election day, (and to cause a large number of mail in ballots to be denied), so that there is no recourse for Republican voters after the fact.
Isn’t NY a closed primary state, where only registered party members can vote in the primaries?
