As a member of the United States Intelligence Community since I was 22 years old, I’ve had, at minimum, a secret security clearance for the better part of 17 years now. I’ve always taken this responsibility seriously, as while working in intelligence, I’ve seen firsthand the disastrous consequences of intelligence falling into the wrong hands, whether it’s a leak on our own side leading to the death of soldiers or information we’ve received because we convinced our enemies to pass data to us that resulted in successful military and law enforcement operations both in the U.S. and abroad.
Getting a clearance is not an easy process, as most folks will attest. Clearances are given only to those who hold a job that requires one (either military or government service, almost exclusively). The process can take anywhere from three months to a year, depending on the type of clearance. I’ve provided this preamble to ensure that readers understand that I do not make my argument lightly. I know the hundreds of thousands of dollars and man-hours that go into investigating, adjudicating, and processing security clearances.
The 51 Intelligence Community professionals who signed a letter claiming the Hunter Biden laptop showed “signs of Russian disinformation” should have their clearances immediately revoked and their access to classified information severed and never again restored. Their blatant disregard for the proper process through which an intelligence investigation is conducted, as well as for national security matters in general, is ground to terminate their clearances immediately.

Undermining the democratic process? Treason. How do you escape the frogmarch to the gallows?
I had never been so disgusted with the United States Intelligence Community as I am now. The motivations of the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and Department of Justice should never be political. Their priority should always be the safety and security of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
The fact that these institutions have so clearly become corrupted by Washington politics, to the point at which they would deliberately cover for the criminal dealings of an elected (or campaigning) politician’s family is beyond upsetting.
They should be in PRISON!
51? How about the people that forced them into it form the Resident down to through half of the government?
I think going forward any presidential candidate should be able to pass a Yankee White background check.
Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer's warning to President Trump 2017. Good to see the author here is using a pseudonym since he's still working in the belly of the beast
Everyone on my preliminary security TS-C checklist was visited by the FBI. I was impressed by their thoroughness, but that was the FBI of 1966!
Those 51....The minute you leave your government job you should lose it.
Why do all the retired flag officers get on corporate boards? Because they keep their TS clearances and sell their access.
Absolutely ZERO reason for either of the Clinton’s, especially PIAPS, to retain their clearances. If Bill Clinton’s expertise is necessary for some situation, one I cannot imagine there being given what a clown he is/was, then the person requesting his counsel could submit paperwork and request that he be “read in” on the situation and go from there. On a case by case basis.
Same goes for all the SESs that leave office and find themselves with very lucrative paying jobs that don’t require much from them. If someone like Comey, Rosenstein, Mueller, et al still have them, someone needs to ask, why.
Yet another thing that Pres Trump brought up, wanted to do something about and threw everyone into seizures over it.

Zero reason for Clapper or Brennan to still have one. Oh wait, they were given jobs that “require” a clearance. Really? Imagine that.
How about, at the bare minimum, they can’t get one for 5 years after leaving office/retiring/resigning and, even then, they go through the same SF86 process like everyone else, with strict oversight to ensure they aren’t getting preferential treatment or expedited service. Nahhhhhhh....we can just keep letting these people screw us over, again and again and again.
These people should have had their security clearance REVOKED the day Trump took office.
I am in total agreement with you. Worse yet the decay and depravity is not limited to the Intel Community. Even more worrisome there is very little push back.
You’re last point is key.
Clearances are now used as a gating mechanism to be in the Gang. Used to be just straight up “are you a commie” screens.
The Made Guys keep their clearances now because well...they in da gang.
Is she even a woman?!
SPJNK.
51 people that should be wearing a blindfold and smoking a cigarette.
Abuse of power.
Yup...
