At the end of the meeting of G7 nations in Japan, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Sunday that Ukraine currently does not meet the requirements to join the NATO alliance.
The expansion of the American-led NATO alliance into Ukraine does not seem to be on the cards any time soon, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz downplaying the idea after meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Hiroshima, Japan over the weekend.

According to Seymour Hersh’s sources the European countries want to end this war. That includes Poland which previously was hawkish. They’ve even offered Zelensky bribes to start negotiating but he refuses. The US and UK seem hellbent on keeping it going.
Almost every member of NATO isn’t fit to be a NATO member since they don’t put even the bare minimum required 2% of their GDP to military spending.

Thats why the excuse that Russia invaded Ukraine to keep NATO out was nonsense. As long as the frozen conflict remained there was no chance of Ukraine becoming NATO. Not tp mention Ukraine has corruption issues that also would have kept her out.

Of course the Russian politicos lie all the time as well. Remember all the promises Putin made that he was not going to invade Ukraine?
The fact is politicians make multiple statements which can, after the fact, be considered lies or truth depending on who is searching the data bases.
Russia only invaded Ukraine because it saw the West, especially the USA, as weak and incapable of responding (remember Afghanistan). Putin believed Western Europe would bow to Russian energy supply extortion.
The surprise has been the fight the Ukrainians have put up, and Western Europe and NATO developing a backbone.

I think that Germany is hedging its bets on Ukraine, despite it's membership in NATO,
and figures that it is best not to "poke the (Russian) bear".
This way they can state 'neutrality' and be non-committal on the wars outcome.
Germany has been heavily dependent on Russian natural gas and fuels
and is aware that sudden transition to only "electricity" for power is not sustainable,
and cannot meet it's residential, commercial, and manufacturing needs.
Tough crap, now the Neocons have to deal with the impacts of their DECADES of lying to Russia. Pretty dumb strategy, in hindsight.

Well, most political lies aren’t repeated for DECADES and most political lies don’t cause wars with nuclear powers involved.
