Fox Panel Flames DeSantis: ‘Everything About Florida That You Love – DeSantis Inherited’
Mediaite ^ | May 22nd, 2023, 6:02 pm | Michael Luciano

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hasn’t even officially announced his 2024 presidential candidacy, but that didn’t stop a Fox Business panel from offering a brutal assessment of his standing in the Republican field.

The governor has barnstormed the country in recent months, especially early primary and caucus states where he hopes to drum up support ahead of his anticipated announcement this week. Polling shows him well behind former President Donald Trump.

On Monday’s edition of Kudlow, Larry Kudlow, Mark Simone, and Pete Hegseth discussed the ways they feel DeSantis has underperformed.

“I’m waiting for DeSantis to show me an economic prosperity agenda,” Kudlow said. “This is going to be a pocketbook election. This is going to be a kitchen table election. And the candidate who has a good, strong, pro-growth, pro-prosperity agenda is going to win.”

Kudlow chided DeSantis over his vendetta against Disney – one of Florida’s largest employers – after the company opposed legislation he signed into law last year.

“It is all about attacking a company in his state named Disney,” he continued. “He won’t let up. Conservative free market people don’t attack businesses. They do promote jobs and businesses. He hasn’t done that.”

“Everything about Florida that you love – Desantis inherited,” Simone said. “The no state tax, all that stuff. He’s done a great job of running it. But most of that was inherited. You watch DeSantis turn Disney into World War III. Imagine what he would do with Putin. This guy has got problems. He’d be great in 2028. Wait ’til then.”

Hegseth chimed in to hit DeSantis over his handling of questions about Ukraine.

“Part of his rollout that was so poor from DeSantis was being on both sides of the Ukraine issue,” he said, referring to the governor’s dithering on the question of Russia’s war on the country. “Trump’s been very clear about it: ‘It didn’t happen under my watch and it wouldn’t have happened. And I don’t want to start foreign wars.’ DeSantis kind of tip-toed on the establishment route and then went another direction.”

Simone essentially opined that DeSantis lacks people skills.

“He’s got all the drama of Trump without the charm or the humor,” he said. “That’s his problem.”

DeSantis has no balls to impose tariffs on China and he is for foreign war in Ukraine before he was against it.

Do you really want to go down the road of all the things Trump was for before he was against them? What matters is how these guys will govern if they are elected. I have no reason to believe that DeSantis won't be as solidly nationalist and anti-war as Trump has been. I'm good with either of them.

Does any governor really succeed in turning a state around?

And if any governors do, are they rewarded with higher office?

Most of the time, the best one can do is prevent things from getting worse, not mess things up, and maybe make things a little better.

DeSantis has done an adequate job and merits consideration for higher office.

Unless you’re just talking about total registered voters, you are very wrong.

It wasn’t 50-50 in 2000. We were shocked when the presidential election was even close in 2000. The democrats, by their own actions, were in trouble back then. They had promised the Speaker of the House of FL position to a black person if he helped them win back the house in the 1990s. He did what they asked but they backstabbed him and gave the position to someone else. Blacks were not happy with the democrats and the dems have not held the FL House since.

There hasn’t been a democrat President of the Fl Senate since the 1990s.

The US congressional districts in Florida have been dominated by republicans since 2000.

The only democrat elected to the US Senate since 2000 is Bill Nelson.

The Cabinet members, some who are elected officials, have been republican dominated since 2000.

The only reason “national” elections have even been close has been the massive cheating in well populated South Florida. Democrats always wait to see how many ballots they need to generate in order to offset republican votes in the rest of the state.

Your idea that Florida was a purple state was a media created invention. Stop listening to the media. They lie to you.

Having lived in Florida nearly 40 years, it has always bothered me to hear people say Florida was a purple state.

Trump is the only president during my 64 years in United States as an adult, who did not start a foreign war and stopped war already in progress when he began his term.

Trump is the only president during 64 years in United States as an adult who built as real wall on the border.

Trump is the only president during 64 years in United States as an adult who imposed serious tariffs on countries with whom we have serious trade imbalance not in our favor.

No other candidate declared on undeclared has committed to these 3 very important actions.

Is Trump a perfect candidate? Nope. He does not know how to deliver a smooth sounding speech like career politicians. His ego hurts him. And he is not a fiscal conservative.

But the 3 actions I listed above are far more important to survival of United States as a first rate country and no other candidate comes even close.

If DeSantis or any one else for that matter speaks about those 3 actions as their important objective, we should definitely look at them as good options to Trump. But I have not heard from any of that from amy of them.

I agree that Miami/Dade being in republican hands has helped that but I would say democrats campaigning on how much they love Fidel and Che had a lot to do with that as well.

Just like they believe black people all vote the same, they believe hispanics all vote the same. They could not believe Cuban’s hate communism with a passion and along with Puerto Ricans, have a problem with illegals.

Democrats campaigned on what they found worked in other communities and they lost big.

So you agree it’s only due to “national” elections which democrats could rig. The truth is Florida has been red for a very long time.

Stuffed ballot boxes elections don’t mean 50-50.

May be helpful for Republicans to remember Ronald Reagan’s 11th commandment. The Dems did BIG hatchet job on Donald Trump and sadly got away with it. (Did the Durham report reveal the true insurrection??) Suggest Republicans be cautious about doing this to DeSantis. Republicans NEED to focus on defeating Biden!! God help us if Biden is,by hook or crook, ‘reinstated’ as President and the person behind the curtain continues to destroy our Country.

You were born in Ybor City, Texas Gator. When did you leave FL? Because you sound like you know nothing about it.

You know that many of the election fixes were made by Jeb Bush after the 2000 election. Those changes were what caused the state to become fully republican. But you say it was purple. The only sign Florida was purple was the media declaring Florida purple, rigged “national” elections in Miami, and one democrat senator. All the other elected officials throughout the state were predominantly republican from 2000 on including the governorship.

The final touch was added when Miami/Dade went republican. Reforms in Miami/Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties by DeSantis helped. But the biggest help was when the democrats shot themselves in the foot by disrespecting blacks and assuming hispanics agreed with their communism and immigration policies. They ran on those assumptions and lost big. Once they lost Miami/Dade to republicans, they no longer had the ability to cheat freely. So bye-bye national elections wins for the democrats in Florida.

DeSantis taking credit for what has been true for years is quite disingenuous. Something very RINO-like. Once again, you have to stop listening to the media. If you actually still live in Florida, go outside and talk to people. Find out what is true.

“You know that many of the election fixes were made by Jeb Bush after the 2000 election.”

And Florida remained 50-50 till after DeSantis came down on the bad guys.

-—————THE MANA-—————

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday issued an executive order suspending Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, effective immediately. The order follows the recommendation of Secretary of State Michael Ertel to remove Bucher from office.

The governor, in another executive order, officially acknowledged the resignation of Dr. Brenda Snipes as Broward County supervisor of elections, effective Jan. 4, formally terminating her duties.

DeSantis announced the appointments of two new supervisors of elections in South Florida. He appointed Wendy Sartory Link, a West Palm Beach attorney and Republican, to replace Bucher and Afghanistan War veteran Chris Anderson as Seminole County supervisor of elections.

“Today, we turn our attention to the need to restore faith in our elections processes here in Florida,” DeSantis said on the steps of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, the old courthouse. “During the 2018 general election, Florida had 65 out of 67 counties that ran good elections.

“Supervisor Bucher demonstrated she was unable to comply with the laws of our state and her duties as the supervisor of elections and failed to accurately report information related to the number of ballots that had been cast. For these reasons, I am suspending Susan Bucher as Palm Beach County supervisor of elections, effective immediately. It is time to turn the page in Palm Beach County to ensure accountability and transparency from our elections officials.”
