Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has said that the army units continue to advance along the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut.
Source: Syrskyi, quoted by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Quote: "Despite the fact that we now control a small part of Bakhmut, the importance of its defence does not lose its relevance. This provides us with opportunities to enter the city in case of a change of circumstances. And this will certainly happen.
We continue to advance along the flanks in the suburbs of Bakhmut and are actually close to tactically encircling the city. Thanks to this, we will be able to control all multi-storey buildings occupied by the enemy and gradually destroy them. This deprives the enemy of control over the approaches to the city and gives us certain tactical advantages. "

It's where the armies chose to fight.
And it will have an outsized effect on the end.
The cope is yuge
I’m so tired of hearing about this. Every day the Russians are about to take Bakmuht. Every day the Ukrainians are about to overrun the Russians in Bakmuht. Let me know when one side has wiped out the other.
“Let me know when one side has wiped out the other.”
Bakhmut has been liberated, as the Ukrainians ran for the hills on Saturday. Everything else is just diversionary talk to try to keep the money flowing.
They didn’t choose to fight at Gettysburg. They blundered into each other.
Considering the two armies are still engaged in and around Bachmut, the statement that the Ukrainians “ran for the hills” is your usual absurdity.
As is your rificulous insinuation that the war is over.
But if you’re right, let’s turn on the radio and hear the Russian broadcasts from Kiev.
Or maybe we should listen to the freedom fighters who just invaded Russia in the vicinity of a nuclear weapons depot, and made fools of Putin.
That was a good summary of the situation.
Are you drinking again?
I was just answering a question...sorry if it stings a bit.
I believe I responded to your ridiculous statements.
Why does this remind me of Baghdad Bob?
Good summary BobL especially about the money laundering kept alive.
But if the Ukes ran in a circle around Bakhmut, they can claim to have circled Bakhmut?
This "encirclement" fable is complete nonsense.
“Good summary BobL especially about the money laundering kept alive.”
Thanks, fits the pattern - first Mariupol is ‘evacuated’, LOL!, then Solodar is NOT liberated, LOL!, now Bakhmut is not really taken over by Russians, LOL!
...has to be tiring to be an Operative here, but we all have to make a living, I guess.
Yes, it has indeed gotten tiring. But you gotta understand what Zelensky is doing. He can NOT concede any military losses. That would severely affect amount of aid flowing into Ukraine. Who is keeping track of how the weapons and money sent to Zelensky is used? Are weapons really used or sold on black market? How much of that money ends up benefitting Zelensky and his circle of friends?
To make me more mad, I have to write a significant amount of check on June 15th for estimated tax payments. How much of my money will go into the black hole of Ukraine?
Watching the silly group of you engage in buffoonery is quite the sight. But no insight.
