It got politicized before Obama. It was probably always politicized - back when Hoover ran it he toyed with politicians. Hillary, it seems to me, somehow turned the tables when she got her hands on some 1000 FBI files on politicians and other major political players. She probably earned off that information, and also whomever got her those files probably got promoted or fast tracked to higher positions.
