The problem is the deep state and Media which turn American politicians in Deep State supporters, or get rid of them.
The problem is the whole Progressive ideology, which junked the U.S. Constitution and the idea the people should have a say in what happens. The problem is Woke Progressivism which finds the whole idea of a Constitutional Republic as reprehensible.
The problem is a Media and ruling class which want to destroy the Republic, in order to "build back better".
Most politicians are subject to blackmail for their hidden actions. Others as you say are on the take.

You got it all wrong. It’s STAFF that needs term limits, pols have term limits, it’s called an election. People who advocate for term limits for the elected only, while ignoring the staff/swamp issue are the ones who care less about the American people OR they know exactly what they are doing and want a bigger more controlling government. Or the person hasn’t thought the issue through.
Only people who can control the out of control faceless bureaucrats are the elected officials we send to represent our Constitutional interests, when they chose to do their job.
The staff is the SWAMP, we need more politicians with testicular fortitude willing to address and correct the administrative sector. When a pol loses an election or retires, every single staffer needs to be out of work too.
Staff rules and they know it. Just look how the staff came for President Trump and how they shield Brandon. There’s where we need to focus the “term limit” idea.
