An Old Navy store that has been in San Francisco for three decades is slated to shutter this summer — adding to the growing list of retailers closing down throughout the crime-plagued city.
The Market Street location — located just three miles away from its corporate headquarters — will shut down July 1 once its lease expires, according to a company statement.
“Old Navy is always evaluating its real estate portfolio to ensure a healthy fleet of stores that can provide the best possible experience for our customers,” said Gap Inc., which owns a number of retailers including Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta.

“a month”
And then they will just start looting smaller stores so small business should just be ready for it
Yep. Walk in, find your $900 worth of merchandise, and walk out. No fuss, no muss, no cops, no charges.
I was just there last week. It had very few customers and floor space was reduced from normal.
I suspect Macy’s will go soon too, same impression.
And Target.
And Bloomingdales.
The reverse of critical mass. The number of businesses needed to support a healthy city is rapidly decreasing to the point of economic stagnation, or worse.
But hey, they voted for this.
Walk in, find your $900 worth of merchandise, and walk out.

And no usurious interest rates to pay on credit card balances.
Win-win! /sarc
The bad news: San Francisco now has one less retail store.
The good news: San Francisco now has more space to house illegal immigrants.
Looks like a wash to me.
Stores should start charging admission before letting people in. Maybe a refundable deposit. Soon everything will be behind glass or plastic and you will have an employee who will hand you each item. One item at a time. Some items will be paid for when they take them out of the display case. No more shopping carts. Like in Europe you bring your own.
But hey, they voted for this.

But did they?
As someone once noticed it is not the number of votes cast that count but who counts the votes.
Until we have secured elections again I will suspect every Democrat victory be the results of cheating.
So the thugs will just escalate to armed robbery instead of “shoplifting”. Good luck finding employees who are willing to risk their lives for minimum wage.
It's only when liberals suffer from liberal policies that changes will be made. And the more they hurt, the better it is for civilization.
I left my fart in San Francisco ...

This is good news, now all those employee’s will be able to spend more time with their families instead of slaving for greedy rich people...
I get your point, but this is perma blue territory. Not many votes for sanity there.
“The fools that vote liberal can get a lot of stuff via amazon/internet...”

They also get lots of stuff from the government they vote for.
I’m happy to say I did find my boxer shorts there last week, and that I now have a good supply.
RIP. They were a pretty good clothing store.
I suspect that, having been there very recently, the bigger problem was simply a lack of customers.
I was there fairly regularly pre-Covid. Compared to normal times, last week there were more staff than shoppers and the merchandise was sparse.
I saw no looters or any particular security measures.
When I was on a study abroad in Eastern Europe following the collapse of the Berlin Wall and USSR, that was exactly how shopping was. Each store would have maybe 10 items and they would be pinned to a display wall behind a counter. If you wanted an item, there was no handling it, looking at it or trying it on. You told them what you wanted (that dress in this size), they went to the back and retrieved it and you paid for it. The next week, you would go in and they would have 10 completely different items. Very eye-opening to me as a spoiled daughter of American capitalism. Had no idea that 30 years in the future, this would be my country.
Setting up a retail business in a mental hospital rarely works.
