DeSantis’s ‘Never Back Down’ PAC Advisor Backs Down, Leaves PAC.
The National Pulse ^ | 05/27/2023 | Staff Writer

A long-time Ron DeSantis advisor is “stepping down” from his role with the Florida governor’s presidential campaign political action committee: the ‘Never Back Down PAC’. The news comes one month after The National Pulse revealed that Cox was also a partner at the parent firm of pro-DeSantis pollster, Gp3, also known as ‘POS Strategies’.

Cox served as the political director for DeSantis’s reelection campaign just last year, and was described as leading “the strategy and messaging for the super PAC.”

A board member for Mitch McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund, Cox’s reason for departure is still unknown, with POLITICO reporter Alex Isenstadt reporting: “Phil Cox is stepping down from his volunteer role at the pro-DeSantis Never Back Down super PAC, per person familiar. People close to Cox say he remains a supporter of DeSantis.”

Bizarrely, Cox was spotted golfing a few hours before Donald Trump himself teed off at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, on Thursday.

See if this thread evolves into more arguments about this Trump vs. DeSantis situation.

It was a VOLUNTEER position. Maybe he needs a real job? Maybe someone offered him money to work elsewhere, either in this campaign or another?

I’m trying to find out what pac is behind the ads on NewsMax claiming Trump planned with Diane Fienstiens to confiscate all guns.
The ad says AXLT PAC.

The only thing I can find leads to Adam Laxalt, who runs the Don’t Back down pac.
Anyone know about this?

So you can shoot the messenger (figuratively of course), rather than consider if it's true or not? What if it is? You do know that Trump wrote in one of his books he'd like to see assualt weapons banned?

Never heard of this guy. Pales in comparison to Trump losing Steve Cortes to DeSantis last week, that was truly HUGE.

One of the core members of the War Room possie, waking up and smelling the roses.

It’s why Bannon has had to dust off and try to resurrect Raheem Kassam (National Pulse, author of this piece).

Well, it is true.

Trump was ready to sign onto Feinstein's assault weapons ban.

After a school shooting in Florida, Trump was talking about red flag laws and he said: "We're going to take the firearms first and then go to court."

Of course, recently, Trump said he would negotiate a federal abortion time limit that the whole country would be OK with.

So, if you want your rights negotiated away and our biggest abortion victory setback for another 50 years, vote Trump.

If only Trump and his followers worried about Biden as much as they worry about DeSantis.

Karl Rove on supporting DeSantis:

“It’s a myth. I’ve met the man one time. I think it was May of 2021 when he came to speak at a conference that we had here in Texas to reward the volunteers and donors to a big voter registration effort that we had in 2020 and and again in 2022. And I think I maybe exchanged ten words with him. So if I’m controlling him it’s by the superior use of my mind to, you know, to send radio waves to control he and his wife and give them directions and they receive them, I mean, you know, it’s a sign of something that Donald Trump is so worried about.”

Once again, the Trump cultists are caught LYING

Well, yes. I voted for Trump twice, and I'll definitely vote for him again in 2024 if he wins the nomination. Trump did do a lot of good things in office, and the choice of him vs Biden is a no-brainer. I may vote for Trump in the TX primary - I'm nowhere near making up my mind on the primary vote.

But there's a segment of Trump supporters who've developed a cult of personality around Trump - anyone else who dares to run for the GOP nomination is automatically a RINO controlled by Karl Rove and the World Economic Forum. You aren't allowed to ask how Trump will actually accomplish the things he says he'll do or else you also are a RINO controlled by Karl Rove. Like all cultists, they've given up rational thought and have gone with pure faith instead - always a bad idea when the target of your faith is just a politician.

Trump was of course talking about people whose families had sought help because their family member was making threats and who was in their opinion mentally impaired. There is always a balance between rights and identified danger to the public.
While it is a grave action to confiscate or restrict access to an individual’s guns if someone is mentally ill, such as a paranoid schizophrenic, there should be a mechanism to evaluate and treat that individual or hospitalize then for treatment rather than waiting for them to murder. The mechanism needs to err on the side of rights & freedoms but in the most serous cases some intervention is indicated even if only evaluation rather than confiscation, hospitalization.

LOL
Rove protests too much. He has certainly advised DeSantis even if not on the payroll.

So you consider Rove answering a question and providing his “advice” on a public forum the same as Rove advising the Desantis campaign? By that standard, I could say I think Trump should end his campaign and it would be perfectly legitimate to post an article saying “Trump adviser recommends Trump drop out of race”. Anyone can give their opinion of what someone should do - that does not make them a part of the campaign or one of their advisers. I know you are desperate to paint Desantis as a globalist and controlled by the GOPe, but the fact that you have to lie about it speaks volumes…

You are mentally ill.

Rove made a suggestion on a panel program. DeSantis was not there. How many times did Rove give advice to Trump in exactly the same way?

Did that make Rove a Trump advisor?

You cultists are really desperate.

I cut my teeth on the Reagan campaign in 1980 and I can tell you from experience and fifty years observing the republican party: nothing has changed. The RINO/Wall Street/Country Club republicans are the same and the grassroots populist republicans are the same. Bush I/Bush IIx2 gave lip service to garner conservative support until the country is in the shape it’s in today. I’m not sure what you’re looking for, but I’m seeing this election as a last chance for my grandchildren to experience an America that’s anything like I grew up and I’m all in for Trump. He doesn’t need to tell me how he’s going to get it done. He’s already earned my support by what he has done and who his enemies are.

Trump was of course talking about people whose families had sought help because their family member was making threats and who was in their opinion mentally impaired.

Always excuses with you.

Pence was talking about safeguards for freedom when Trump jumped in and made his statement. Here is the actual quotes:

Pence: Well, the category you spoke about Mr. President -- the gun violence restraining orders as they're called -- California actually has a version of this, and I think you ... in your meeting with governors earlier this week, individually and as a group we spoke about the state's taking steps. But the focus is to literally give families and give local law enforcement additional tools if an individual is reported to be a potential danger to themselves or others. Allow due process so that no one's rights are trampled, but [allow] the ability to go to court, obtain an order, and then collect not only the firearms, but any weapons in the possession ...

Trump: We're going to take the firearms first and then go to court, because that's another system. Because a lot of times by the time you go to court ... it takes so long to go to court to get the due process procedures. I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man's case that just took place in Florida; he had a lot of fires [and] they saw everything. To go to court would have taken a long time, so you could do exactly what you're saying but take the guns first, go through due process second.

That was my first thought BEFORE I got to the end of the article.
