Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) tamped down Republican opposition ahead of Wednesday’s vote on the debt ceiling bill.
Ahead of the pivotal decision on the deal struck by McCarthy and President Joe Biden, the House Republican Conference met to discuss members’ issues with the legislation, otherwise known as the Fiscal Responsibility Act.
Some but not all members of the House Freedom Caucus have vented about how the bill does not do enough to tackle America’s deficit problem.

Didn’t they have some agreement, that a motion to “vacate the chair”, meaning that we will have a new vote for Speaker happen, if any Republicans were unhappy with his performance as speaker?
If so, would now be a good time to call for that new speaker vote, considering how badly received this deal with Biden is???

His staffer, Hanna, told me she didn’t know how Jim was going to vote on this because he hasn’t given any indication.

Why, Speaker McCarthy, would you EVER agree to a SUSPENSION of the debt ceiling?
You’re counting on a future Congress to impose a new limit in two years, and a President willing to sign it.
What happens if THE PRESIDENT REFUSES TO SIGN A NEW DEBT LIMIT BILL? Unlimited spending forever, that’s what.
