The Kern County Coroner's Office reports the cause of death for the inmate, 53-year-old Juan Pablo Villanueva, killed in North Kern State Prison in Delano on February 24 as ligature strangulation.
CDCR said Villanueva was serving a sentence for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old, when he was found unresponsive in his cell on February 24, 2023. CDCR said his cellmate, Ramon Escobar, was serving several sentences for five first-degree murders and seven counts of attempted second-degree murder.
A CDCR officer saw Villanueva unresponsive in the cell and immediately went to get medical personnel. Responding staff did life-saving measures, got an ambulance, and took Villanueva to the prison’s triage and treatment area where he later died.
Escobar, 51, was sentenced to CDCR on May 6, 2022, from Los Angeles County to serve life without the possibility of parole sentence for two counts of first-degree murder. He was also sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole for three counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted second-degree murder. He was transferred to CDCR custody on December 5, 2022.

Villanueva, 53, was sentenced to CDCR on October 25, 2022, from Los Angeles County to serve life with parole sentence for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old. He was transported to CDCR custody on February 2, 2023.
Villanueva coroner's report said the manner of death was homicide.
what a shame.
Regardless of how fitting his end may,or may not,have been one thing is for certain: his family has just won the lottery.

I presume the picture is of the guy who was strangled and not the cellmate? (Why do you make us guess?)
Recently saw a video on Prison violence and murders. Serial killers and child/women molesters are always targets by prisoners. Even in solitary confinement because the guards are just as much a part of that happening. Nobody likes these beasts so they will get tortured and even killed in prison.
I didn't see a damn thing.
