White House: Work Requirements in Debt Bill Are ‘Onerous
Breitbart ^ | 06/02/2023 | Ian hatchett

Posted on 06/02/2023 6:46:24 PM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

On Friday’s broadcast of Bloomberg’s “Sound On,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Heather Boushey said that it is crucial that veterans and homeless people were spared the “onerous work requirements” for SNAP benefits in the debt limit and that it appears as though access to food stamps will increase on the whole, but estimates at this point are “very, both preliminary and subject to variance.”

Boushey said, [relevant remarks begin around 4:30] “Listen, the important thing here is that the president focused on maintaining his priorities. And certainly, making sure that veterans have access, that homeless folks have access to food stamps was an important priority. And making sure that — as we worked through this process — that his priorities were frontloaded as things that he was protecting as a part of this bipartisan agreement.”

If only the 10th Amendment were honored and the program didn’t exist at all.

People who have jobs are less likely to riot.

“…homeless folks have access to food stamps”

Thus assuring an ever-growing “homeless” problem.

Did I read correctly that the work requirement only applies to men in a narrow age range? Middle age if I remember right? So the vast majority of teat-sucklers can still couch-surf through life?

“...veterans and homeless people...”

HATER! If you don’t use the woketard-approved term “people experiencing homelessness” you are a HATER.

We have criminal government and it has been that way for over 100 years.

Didn’t ask for or want work requirements. I don’t care. I do care about where the TRILLIONS in extra spending is going.

I remember not long after Obama left for Trump a former bureaucrat said he had worked for years in a department in DC and shortly after Obama was sworn in the man told his boss as always “Here are the piles of folders of the applicants for welfare. I already went through each one for the best matches for jobs and training. They’re all set.”

He was told now that Obama had given an order, “No more work requirements. Get rid of that and just assign the payments to all of them.”

Now they act like no one in history had ever believed “welfare is not a way of life, it is a temporary bridge for the person out of work to journey to the other side to have the pride of working for a living again.” Humorous now.

The late Paul Harvey said: “People used to be ashamed of having to reluctantly and quietly accept welfare. They didn’t want the neighbors to find out.”
“Now the system is renamed entitlements and the people boldly demand the payments because they are entitled to them
and don’t care who hears about it.”

Virginians know that Captain John Smith was vital to the survival of Jamestown in its early years.

They can quote his order: “He that will not worke, shall not eate.”

FReepers know that too!

LIEberals, on the other hand . . . .

Don’t work because of age & inabilities, but sure don’t riot & I never have. Maybe I could do some work if it was the right kind of job, but if it was volunteer work & I had to drive to get there....then what? Can’t spend your S.S. payments driving to volunteer jobs, can you?

Put them to work cleaning up the freaking trash on the highways. The kids can pick up and the parents can carry the sacks.

They are probably the ones who threw most of it out anyway.

They learned that from the indians too.

No hunt, no gather, no eat. Not a lot of welfare in indian camps. Well, there wasn’t long ago, now it is pretty much common.

Tje so-called progressives led the way. The very first “progressives” were opposed to our Constitution and our rightful Common Law, they wanted Arbitrary government and administrative laws, where everything was politically sourced and the only things government could not do were things simply not popular enough ... yet. They were dishonorable men who took their oaths of office in vain and confounded assertions that something was needful to do (at least in their imaginations ) with the assumption it must therefore be lawful to do.

Under the package, able-bodied adults without dependents who are ages 18 through 54 could get food stamps for only three months out of every three years unless they are employed at least 20 hours a week or meet other criteria until 2030. Currently, that mandate applies to those ages 18 through 49.

They upped it to 54 from 49

Homelessness is a profitable career now. I look around where I use to live and see streets lines with RVs. They don’t have to work. The city and charities deliver food, water, propane to their doors, AND they get honey bucket services along with trash. All free. There is a mobile medical clinic that drives through every week or so. I even saw a mobile shower and laundry truck. Some have even fenced off sections of county land and have been squatting for who knows how long. I assume they are all on every form of welfare including direct cash. Why work and pay taxes?
