DeSantis introduces himself to GOP voters in first week of campaign as war of words with Trump escalates

Des Moines, Iowa – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Saturday capped off his first week on the presidential campaign trail as the final speaker at Sen. Joni Ernst's "Roast & Ride" event, which also hosted several other Republican presidential hopefuls.

DeSantis barnstormed the state on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by stops in New Hampshire on Thursday and South Carolina on Friday. His campaign said Friday evening that a combined 7,000 people attended his 12 events across the three states this week.

But while the curiosity was there, it was unclear if DeSantis had the full support of the attendees at his events this week, as former President Donald Trump's presence still looms large over the Republican party.

Article continues to talk about how people favor one or another candidate....

But, after 12 events, the interest in hearing his speeches is

And the interest in watching him when he gave a speech on a live stream?

So don't be fooled by the deceptive desantis speak, there doesn't seem to be grassroot interest in desantis.

I get the overall impression that the 2028 nomination was his, regardless of how 2024 turns out. And now he is entering a competitive race where he is the underdog, or at least starting way behind the leader, just so he can run now.

If he wins the nomination, he most likely resigns as Governor of Florida, with an incomplete term in office there. If he does not win the nomination, he is damaged goods in 2028, or at least old news.

And overall, is it in the best interest of America that a governor resigns in the middle of a term on a volunteer basis to satisfy personal ambition?

12 events with a total of 7,000 people don’t sound that great, it’s about what Jeb and the others used to get at this point in their campaigns.

Nope.

Desantis has been shown to be a liar, deceitful, and corrupt, and no one will want him in 2028, even if he gets pushed by swampy rinos, GOPe and big money again.

LOL...Rally counting worked so well for Trump in 2020, where JoeBasementBiden beat him.

Desantis has been shown to be a liar, deceitful, and corrupt, and no one will want him in 2028, even if he gets pushed by swampy rinos, GOPe and big money again.

liar, deceitful, and corrupt

Do you really think that if you repeat this enough that it will make it true?

You show yourself as ignorant or deliberately ignoring the election steal and subsequent repression of anyone who tried to bring legal challenges with evidence! Are you a traitor aligning with these thieves?

DeSantis seemed very authentic at U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst’s annual Roast and Ride fundraiser. I think your words describing him as “a liar, deceitful, and corrupt,” are the rude stereotype used for Italians.

I think it was a mistake for President Trump to miss the event. In that crowd of Republicans there was a vice president Trump could use as his running mate.

“LOL...Rally counting worked so well for Trump in 2020, where JoeBasementBiden beat him.”

Your comment is based on a false premise. Trump was not beaten by Joe Biden in 2020; the election was stolen from him, and you sir, are no MAGA.

....even if everything you say is true about the stolen election.... Trump lost the Presidency. Election integrity wasn’t one of his priorities, and he was hamstrung by people he brought in.

Agreed.

DeSantis is an underdog, but I think it’s good that we have a contested primary. Trump seems to have energy, but at 76 even he needs to be publically vetted.

Average 580 people per evenet.
Of which, how many were media and lackeys?

Seem the candidacy is 100% astroturf

“If he does not win the nomination, he is damaged goods in 2028, or at least old news.”

So you’re portraying it as a lose-lose scenario either way?
He is getting his name “out there” for the future. There is no way that will magically become a negative. But nice dream and display of DDS there.

I’ll wager that by next year, the country will have been so screwed up by the Democrats that anyone winning the GOP nomination will win handily against them. Barring the usual Democrat election fraud and theft routine, that is.

They have a bad case of DeSantis Derangement Syndrome, as does Trump. Ironic, to say the least.
