Several Republican presidential hopefuls on Saturday blasted former US President Donald Trump for his comments praising North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, after the country received a seat on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) executive board.
“Congratulations to Kim Jong Un,” Trump said in a post to his Truth Social account on Friday, while sharing an article about the news.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis all criticized the former President, who they will be challenging for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. The Hill reported.
“No one should be praising the dictator in North Korea or praising the leader of Russia who has launched an unprovoked war of aggression in Ukraine,” Pence told Fox News on Saturday. “This is a time when we ought to make it clear to the world that we stand for freedom and we stand with those who stand for freedom.”
Pence has not yet officially announced he will seek the 2024 Republican nomination, but is expected to do so next week.
Haley, who has already officially launched her campaign, denounced North Korea’s ascension to the WHO board on Friday, calling it a “total farce.”
“You don’t congratulate a thug,” she added when asked about Trump’s comment. “I mean, let’s keep in mind, this thug has threatened America, has threatened our allies, over and over again.”
“This is not something to play with,” Haley continued. “I mean, he’s a terrible individual. He’s terrible to his people, he’s terrible to our allies in the world, and I don’t think he deserves congratulations.”

Good grief, Trump acknowledged the process of diplomacy as a good thing.
It’s feint praise that is typical in his dealings with people. The praise means nothing to him, but it helps oil the communication lines.

Meanwhile, Pence and Haley are back-stabbers. The three of them say they will do in eight years what Trump has already accomplished in four.

What’s in it for the US for NK to be on the WHO board? Trump nearly got us out of WHO but it took a year for the process, so Biden was able to block it when he stole the election.
Why congratulate the addition of another Chinese operative to the board? Trump himself said there was too much Chinese influence at WHO which led to China allowing COVID19 to be spread.
Since he’s not in the Oval Office, he had no reason to say anything at all about this absurd addition to WHO. He’s actually contradicting his previously correct effort to get us out of WHO, which makes no sense at all.
Trump took time to welcome another evil nation to the WHO, an organization that is already in the pocket of China.
This does not wean North Korea away from China, but strengthens their alliance against the west.
Trump took time to congratulate his “friend” Kim , but had no time to discuss the debt ceiling agreement before the vote even though it was negotiated by Trump’s endorsed RINO “friend” Kevin McCarthy.
You are right. Trump knows how to communicate and it is communication whihc allows the use of military strength without going to war.BUt some Republican candidates are there not to win but to YELL for 2 years:

It is my opinion that President Trump was on the verge of ending the Korean War, that is until the fake charges were repeated 24/7 by the media and members of Congress. These charges weakened President Trump in the eyes of North Korea and they back off making any deals.
An opportunity of peace in the region was missed all because of the lies the Democrats and the media spread about President Trump.
Oh good lord almighty.
It’s disturbing that Trump now thinks complimenting somebody for joining the WHO is appropriate. The WHO is one of the most dangerous globalist organizations on the planet. What about that is worthy of a compliment?
