Chris Licht, the embattled chief executive and chairman of CNN, whose brief one-year tenure at the network was stained by a series of severe missteps, will depart the company.
“I met with Chris and he will be leaving CNN,” David Zaslav, the chief executive of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, told CNN employees at the start of the network’s daily editorial call Wednesday.
Licht’s departure, which came days after a devastating 15,000-word profile in The Atlantic, capped a tumultuous year for CNN, marked by layoffs, historically low ratings, and rock-bottom employee morale.
In the wake of The Atlantic article, Licht apologized to staffers Monday, telling the global news organization in a somber tone that he did not recognize himself when reading portions of the story and that he was sorry for having distracted from the newsroom’s work.

I doubt it. Licht’s background is quite shady. He was executive producer of the CBS Morning Show (the one with Gail King) and also the Stephen Colbert Show. He didn’t exactly bring conservative bona fides to the CNN job. That’s how loony CNN staff are that this guy was too far right for them.
He will get hired at Foxnews... probably.

Perhaps the new owners will see they’re dealing with extremists like Darcy and send someone in to get medieval.

I hope you’re right. Half measures will not solve CNN’s ills. Whoever comes in needs to show full measure of devotion to eradicating the broken culture and mediocre talent that plagues that network.
That’s the way the Left is. You cannot deviate one iota from the ideology. There is no 99.44% pure. You have to be 101% pure or nothing.
They like to brag about ‘diversity’, but in reality they hate it......................

I remember 9/11/2001 and we had CNN on all day long because they had the best reporting. They’re not even on my mind as a news source these days.

The problem for CNN is that the new liberal FOX is now competing for their 1 million liberal viewers.
THIS is the fact that so Americans have to understand about the woke. It's not about creating an equitable society. It's about consolidating power in the hands of a few, a la the totalitarian commie regimes of the 20th century.
