“I am aware that the lefties on Reddit are very aggressive, but how would they push out the original mods?”

As I said, the actual mods of reddit are complicit with the lefties on the site who do this. So, for example, one strategy they use is to go onto the sub they want to take over and start flagging posts for rules violations. Then they can make the case to the reddit mods that that subs’ mods are failing to stop the violations, and the real reddit mods then force out the original mods of the subs and appoint new, compliant ones. That’s one way they have done it in the past.

That’s interesting. I’ve not encountered that, but I don’t spend much time on the political subs. And when I do stick my toe in, I always mind my manners, as I do on FR.

Has anyone set up a conservative version of Reddit? Here as elsewhere, I’m always interested in conservatives building our own institutions so that we can walk away from the Stalinists.

But again, this isn’t a problem that comes up on the movie subs. I suppose I’d be careful if I wanted to jump into a discussion on a film related to homosexuality, which I am sure Reddit regards as sacred. But since I’m not interested in those films anyhow, that’s not hard to avoid.

There ARE robust discussions about nudity and gratuitous sex in movies, and the pornhounds always show up to downvote those of us who think that actors should keep their clothes on. But the discussions are often lively, and the people who argue for modesty have by far the better arguments.
