Reminder: Jack Smith Could Also Indict Trump for Trying to Overturn the Election

When it comes to the legal affairs of one Donald Trump, the most pressing issues, at the moment, are (1) the 34 class E felonies he was charged with in April in New York and (2) a potential federal indictment over his handling of classified documents, which appears more and more likely by the day. But, of course, those cases do not represent the entirety of the legal peril the former guy is in and, in fact, they don’t even represent all of the legal peril he is in when it comes to special counsel Jack Smith. As a reminder, the war crimes prosecutor is not just investigating Trump re: classified documents, but the ex-president’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. And the latter is apparently in the “make people close to Trump testify” phase.

Persecution of political enemies, trying to imprison a rival for the presidency. Banana republic stuff. This may be the most embarrassing time in our nation’s history. Other nations are laughing at our pretensions of fairness and democracy.

It is not Jack Smith that is doing this.

It is Joe Biden and Merrick Garland.

There is no “independent counsel” appointed for either the records case nor the election case. Smith is a special consel detailed by Garland under DOJ regulations.

This is all being done by the current administration to imprison their opponent.

Impeach both Biden and Garland. Then fire Smith and forbid him to ever work for the federal government again

There was no legitimate election to “overturn.” An imposter currently pretends to hold office.

I think you are correct. Another indictment will drop and it won’t be in Florida

The idea that challenging the results of an election and even creating a novel way to use Constitutional wording on certification, even if unsuccessful, to create havoc in the process is a criminal action is very troubling. And unless the Dems think they can never lose another election, which may be what they believe, they should be concerned it could be used against them some day.

Come to think of it that would be a good turn-about. Indict these democrats on criminal fraud and conspiracy for all the election interference and ballot stuffing when Trump is reelected. But, the Democrats know we won’t do it because we believe in justice.

So questioning a corrupt election is now “overturning an election”?

Leftists and rinos should all be inpatients in asylums. It would be the best money normies ever spent.

For years leftists have been advocating “Lawfare” as a political weapon.

Their weaponizing of the legal system is on full display in their vendetta against Trump.

The American court and legal system is now a corrupt political tool unworthy of public trust.

I don’t see them bringing that charge because they don’t want the truth of the election steal coming out in a court proceeding .

And President Trump didn’t try to overturn the election.

He just wanted to have the vote verified and bogus ballots thrown out.

If there was nothing dishonest about the vote why would anyone be opposed to verifying it?

They keep throwing around the word indictment as if it means convicted in order to fool an ignorant populace.

Some ignorant leftists are out there in the world all giddy thinking 45 has been convicted of a crime and is about to be sent to prison.

I assume they are thinking a DC federal judge will find that anything related to an election steal is not relevant to sedition and inadmissible. Look at Bannon’s contempt proceeding. He wasn’t allowed to offer any evidence or even call the decision makers in Congress on the contempt as a witness.
