ALAN DERSHOWITZ's stunning verdict on Donald Trump's indictment: The ex-president's brag to a writer was 'worst sentence he's ever uttered' and every time he opens his mouth he increases his chances of going to prison

The sensational federal indictment Donald Trump faces has stunned one of the former president's most famous supporters, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz.

Trump faces 31 counts over claims he illegally-stored highly classified government documents at his Mar-a-Lago country club. Jaw-dropping details of the charges against Trump were outlined Friday - and he faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted. Trump will appear before a Miami court on Tuesday.

Dershowitz describes himself as a liberal Democrat, although he has previously spoken out against what he sees as the unfair persecution of Trump.

And in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, he said the new charges Trump faces are exceptionally serious. The author also warned that the former president's usual strategy of going on the attack could land him in even deeper trouble.

He’s right. If Trump took a document, that he did not declassify, he’s hooped. Ibdon’t know the penalty for having in possession a declassified document, but he will be hit with the max on every conviction.

If he goes to jail, don’t bother voting.

The lie in your Daily Mail article starts in the first line.

“The sensational federal indictment Donald Trump faces has stunned one of the former president’s most famous supporters, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz.”

Dershowitz has never been a Trump supporter so I didn’t read past the first lie.

That lie sets the tone.

Assuming the Recording at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey was genuine. With A.I. Tech who knows.

Also, is the recording admissible?

Jonathan Turley sounds like Trump is in deep excrement, too.

Dershowitz has never been a Trump supporter so I didn’t read past the first lie.

He may not be a "supporter" but he's defended Trump multiple times, more than we can say about most republicans.

Trump was a mischievous child and sometimes let this quality get the better of him...which is why he was sent by his father to NY Military Academy.

This same quality is still there and Trump hasn't tamed it. It can express itself in self-destructive ways.

“If he goes to jail, don’t bother voting.”

Playing stompy feet and end up with an old guy with dementia. And even worse, Kamala. Not to mention, possible Supreme Court vacancies.

Yes, don’t vote. Makes perfect sense.

A lawyer who just comments and doesn’t even work for the person involved is not termed “a supporter”.

So I will stick by my comment.

You think your vote will matter?
Theyve had four years to refine the system to favour them even more.

Whether or not Trump at that time believed the document was classified doesn’t negate the provisions of the Presidential Records Act, which states any record a setting president takes with him when he leaves office is presumed to be declassified. A general clause does not control a specific clause.

In other words, give the corrupt government whatever they want even if they have no right to it because that is what good little cowards do who don’t have the guts to resist tyranny. I think you are mistaken about who is brain dead.

Yes, all of it is Trump’s fault and Joe Biden and Merrick Garland are right and never cooked up false reasons to get rid of their strongest opponent. Yes?

One more thing, how do you know he did or didn’t return what they wanted? Would it make a difference?

which states any record a setting president takes with him when he leaves office is presumed to be declassified.

Isn’t the key word here “presumed”? I take that as meaning “in the absence of info to the contrary”. If he truly and specifically said he did NOT declassify, I would guess that you no longer need to “presume” anything. That could remove the presumption and put him in jeopardy.

Is that Dersh’s point?
