It seems like on Free Republic anymore, we are encouraged to say we are on Team Trump, or Team DeSantis, and are encouraged to trash the other, declare we would never vote for the other, etc.
There seems to be a dearth of those who would happily support either Trump or DeSantis, assuming one or the other gets the GOP nomination, and not someone else.
We are told, depending which partisan is talking to you, that selecting the other as the GOP nominee will lead us to defeat and despair.
I declare hereby to vote for the nominee if the nominee is either Trump, DeSantis, Ramaswamy with energy. If it is Pence or Haley or Asa, I might be tempted to sit this one out. The others I will hold my nose and go vote.
We go through this every primary season. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
While I can sympathize with your point of view IMO DeSantis is bought & sold by the Globalists/Wall Street. I would no more vote for him than for Romney, Jeb, Cruz or Haley.
For years we have been told the lesser of two evils is a winning strategy.
I have come to believe that voting for the lesser of two evils is conniving at our own destruction by kicking the can down the road as American values crumble & erode. Better that the left is exposed by the evil they bring ASAP, such that the American public rises up and revolts against them.
The illusion of a “Republican” administration that is, in truth, aligned firmly with the uniparty lulls Americans to sleep, to wait, to grumble, to believing that politics is just a sport and doesn’t effect their lives, their children’s lives and their right to exist and flourish in a free society.
The lesser of two evils mantra has made Americans as lobsters basking in a pot where the heat is slowly rising. So I will never vote for DeSantis who is an outwardly conservative uniparty creature, being shaped by Globalist elites to take out Trump, the only America first candidate in decades, and install a President from either party who will protect the Globalists’ power & wealth stream by transforming America into a service economy where speech is not free, justice is not equal and merit is irrelevant.
