Chinese President Xi Jinping reiterated to Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas on Wednesday his call for a state of Palestine to become a "full member" of the United Nations, state media reported. Xi expressed Beijing's position during a summit with Arab countries in Saudi Arabia in December, although the latest call comes as the Asian powerhouse works to strengthen its role as mediator in the Middle East. Xi met Abbas during the December trip and pledged to "work for an early, just and durable solution to the Palestinian issue". Beijing has since positioned itself as a mediator in the Middle East, brokering the restoration in March of ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia -- rivals in a region where the United States has for decades been the main powerbroker. "China supports Palestine in becoming a full member State of the United Nations," Xi said during a meeting with Abbas in Beijing, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. "The fundamental way out of the Palestinian issue lies in the establishment of an independent Palestinian State," he said.

So should Taiwan.
And Tibet.
The Uyghurs are unavailable for comment.
I’m sure China doesn’t care about the Palestinians, they are using this as a wedge to curry favor with the Arabs in the region. Could be an ominous development for Israel though if they were to push this policy.
Putin made a similar call.
Recently? Well Russia & China are working in cahoots to undermine US interests in that region as well as the world in general.
Blinken: Fine idea, sir. So gracious of you to allow me to humbly agree with your soundly eminent and exalted leadership, sir.
Yep, Israel is the Canary in the coal mine.
Whatever happens to them happens to Europe and America, not necessarily in that order.
This is inevitable.
... the one border wished for -- from the river to the sea -- means an immediate and next outright was with Israel, because they are within those borders. Any other "compromise" border would require Gaza to be closed and its population moved to the West Bank, or annexation by Egypt (which Egypt to date does not want), or the very humorous notion of moving all the West Bank Arabs into little Gaza. So...
...no borders will be agreed to OR announced openly.
Sooner or later everyone will turn against Israel ... except for God
This guy always brings bad Xi with him.
No Xi mind ur business
3 It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.
Y’all need to look at history

There is no such thing as “Palestinians”.
the group there right now claiming to be Palestinian are the Jordan dregs that the rest of the Arab world doesn’t want in their country.
I’m not sure how viable a 2 state solution even is at this point. On the other hand if Israel were to absorb all the Arabs in the territories it would change the demographics eventually threatening Jewish control.
But to do nothing leaves China and Russia with what will be perceived as supporting the ‘moral’ solution and a propaganda victory in the region that they will use to their advantage. China is already getting props for getting Iran and Saudi Arabia to reopen official relations with each other. You can already see where all of this is heading.
Palestinian state ?
Indeed. I've been watching this for years, as Israel was one the nations in which I worked for a short while in different years.
Israel cannot accept all the "neighboring" Arabs and thereby "democratically" become an Arab nation. The image of the two wolves voting to eat the one sheep on a vote tally of two to one is very apt.
Additionally Hamas cannot bend the need to the PA without them experiencing a mini-version of the same. Egypt doesn't want the Palestinian Arabs as part of their nation. The Hashemite kingdom doesn't want Palestinians to become citizens of Jordan. Nor does Lebanon actually want them for political reasons. Ditto Syria.
What to do? I think the only solution in the end is to move Gaza's people into the West Bank, one way or anther, and then annex Gaza to Israel. It would be war, of course. But it will be war anyway. It is only a matter of when. Moreover and to complicate the whole. the Leftists in Israel -- like the Democrats here -- think they can ally with Arabs to achieve a political win, and so this is only going to be a bigger and bigger powder keg with a very short fuse. Not if, but when.
Xi should give them land outside of Shanghai
