DeSantis would have been a shoe-in for VP slot if he had remained loyal.
And a shoe-in for 2028, win or lose.
But he was flattered/bought by big donors and made a terrible decision to run, surrounded himself with Team Cruz losers, and turned out to be a lousy candidate when he is reading someone else’s script.
And he has seriously harmed himself for 2028, maybe fatal.
Mark Shields used to say that people who run for President usually diminish themselves for their current office, and it is certainly true in DeSantis case.
