The left's control over the language of sexuality finally meets resistance

George Orwell taught us that control over the terms used to discuss consequential subjects is a key element of tyranny. It's a lesson that the left took to heart as a weapon, not as a caution against despotism.

No better example exists today than the language of sex, which the left has asserted control over, immensely assisted by its dominance of the major media organs. Calling genital mutilation "gender-affirming care" is the most blatant example of bizarro-world terminology since calling abortion "reproductive health care" and its advocacy as "choice." Virtually the entire medical, academic, and journalistic establishments employ the term "gender-affirming care" now.

But finally, there is a growing movement that has attracted at least one piece of critical support in fighting back. It started yesterday with a grassroots tweet from a therapist named James Esses:

Yesterday, after posting a Tweet saying that I reject the word ‘cis’ and don’t wish to be called it, I receive a slew of messages from trans activists calling me “cissy” and telling me that I am ‘cis’ “whether or not I like it”.

When his point was picked up and extended to policy at Twitter (at least according to its owner, Elon Musk), attention to the term exploded:

My understanding of the import of the term "cis-" is that it denies any status as normal to what has been normal since the dawn of human consciousness:

The term "cisgender" was coined by a German sexologist who also stated, "The sensuality that spontaneously unfolds between a child and an adult is something wonderful."

The Left use "cis" as a pejorative. They will deny it, but it's true. Call them on it, keep up the pressure.

Twitter has canceled it, next will be FB and Reddit (if we keep pushing them on it)...

A most basic stratagem of debate is to control the opponent's voabulary, and then twist it to suit the aims of the debate. When language is agreed upon in debates, usually the winning argument becomes clear rather quickly. When tussles over language itself is engaged, one may be sure the opponent in a debate is aware of holding the losing argument. Same with “so what you're really saying is....” and other such gamesmanship.

Sex is NOT “assigned at birth”, it is DETERMINED at birth by identifying genitals and or chromosomal composition.

I believe "cis" was originally a geographical term. The Romans called northern Italy Cisalpine Gaul--Gaul on "this side," or southeast of the Alps--while what is now France, on the other side, was Transalpine Gaul.

I am familiar with the terms “cis” from organic chemistry. Cis means same side and trans means other side indicating the bonded direction of a substituent group which influences the molecules chemical properties..
