Another era ending. Considering that there are very few sports personalities on TV that are not actors and entertainers, Norm Hitzges was truly unique on the AM and FM airways of Dallas/Fort Worth.

He started a morning sports talk show in 1986 - about the same time as Rush debuted, and was certainly the very first popular morning sports only radio program in the country.

While FM radio, and to a lesser extent AM radio, will creep along until the FCC takes away the last of their frequencies, there is no doubt that the drive time experience of our youth is ending.

Good night, Mr Hitzges. You have earned a well deserved rest, and good health to go with it.

Texas Ping, the Best State in the USA!

A ping out to the Texas Ping list, founded by Windflier.

While Norm is still with us, he won't be on the air except on special occasions, like the Christmas Normathon benefiting the Austin Street Shelter.

Another special Texas winter edition for your perusal.

As always, please FReepmail me if you want on or off the Texas Ping list.

Blessings, and stay cool!

Norm and Randy Galloway ruled North Texas sports radio for most all of my life. Great talents!
