Texas Christian University is offering a course on the "Queer Art of Drag," where students will be taught about "drag performance as an outlet for social critique, pedagogy, and queer worldmaking."
The course will be taught by Nino Testa, whose preferred pronouns are he/him when going by his name, but when wearing a dress and wig as the drag persona "Maria von Clapp" are she/her.
"The gender binary is enforced through compulsory norms, harassment, and violence in service of a white-cis-heteropatriarchy," the syllabus for the spring 2023 course says, adding that "theatricalizing gender" can expand "the possible queer worlds that we could inhabit."
Students will be given $100 each to purchase drag costumes. They are expected to create drag personas for themselves and perform in the Protestant school's annual drag show.
The course, which is funded by an "Inclusive Excellence Grant" from the school's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, includes such commentaries as "The Gender Binary Is a Tool of White Supremacy" by Kravitz Marshall.
Other readings assigned for the class include "Drag pedagogy: The playful practice of queer imagination in early childhood" by Harper Keenan and Lil Miss Hot Mess, a video called "Drag Kids," and Mary Zaborskis's "Queer Childhoods and Drag Race."

TCU hasn’t been “Christian” in any recognizable fashion for my entire adult life.
They join a long line of once Christian universities that devolved into, “whatever the world does.”
Does TCU offer a class for strippers? If not, why not?
Practically all formerly religious-based colleges have apostacized and gone either leftist or woke, or both.
I have a Catholic friend who has been sending her daughter to an evangelical high school to ensure she received a Christian-based education. The daughter is now looking at colleges, and has narrowed down to three. All of them are Catholic-based, and all of them make Francis smile with glee—I know, I used to teach for one of them. I am trying to convince the mother to look at the few Catholic colleges in the Southeast that have held fast to Christian doctrine, and I’m not even Catholic.
P.S. A mutual friend homeschooled her daughter on the strait and narrow, then sent her to a supposedly Catholic college in NY (Mercy College), and next year she will graduate with a BA and a head full of wokeness. God help us.

And at the other end of the spectrum, a kid from our church was stopped by campus cops at Abilene Christian University for running shirtless. He was on the cross-country team and was training. They said he was distracting the female students. Go figure.

Back in the late 50’s, my dad was kicked off the campus of Baylor University for smoking on campus. He was visiting a girlfriend.
Seems for many institutions Christian is just a string of letters.
LBJ and his great society destroyed the black family, now the Marxists are taking the white family down.

Thanks for bringing up this affiliation. Whatever this denomination used to be in the distant past, it is anything but Christian today. And the school is a perfect reflection.
This is in my neck of the woods and I am witness to the palpable apostasy of the institution.
The encroaching culture, transmitted by poisonous social media, is a bigger danger than woke universities and often overrides and nullifies truly Christian education. My niece attended a strict Church of Christ (not “United”) university her first year of college but quit because they upheld Christian principles. She had already been infected with the modern leftist ideology. This, after attending a Classical Christian school grades k-12.
It is a very treacherous world to bring up children today. The factors against them are overwhelming.
Girls caught wearing shorts in public on campus in many Christian Universities in generations past would get you censured or expelled.
