New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Monday defended a climate change proposal targeting mainly pizzerias using coal and wood-fired ovens by citing Canadian wildfire smoke, his own apparent love of "vegan pizza" – and calling out conservative activist who hurtled slices toward city hall in protest.
Public uproar commenced amid reports the NYC Department of Environmental Protection would force restaurants with coal and wood-fired stoves installed in 2016 and afterward to have specialized and expensive emissions controls. In 2015, City Council passed Local Law 38, which requires restaurants with wood-burning and coal-burning stoves to install equipment to reduce emissions by up to 75%.

Seems so. Why, with all of the other problems in NYC, would his administration waste publicity on coal fired ovens. Maybe he intends it as a distraction from the other problems.
Do they actually cook pizza in ovens fired with mined coal, as in bituminous coal? That does not sound very tasty.
Because vegans are internally very miserable, and misery loves company.
Or in the case of vegans (and other progs) - demands that you be miserable as well, and that you enjoy it.
