From my distant little corner of the world, I assume Facebook is entering a mid-life crisis. I know fewer and fewer people who use it. For people under 30, its the equivalent of a using a rotary telephone.
Yes, they have Instragram to target the kiddies
and while it makes A LOT of money ($23 billion) Facebook’s yearly sales revenue actually dropped for the first time ever. Its business remains mainly North American-centric. Its revenues in Asia are small and have dropped significantly. Its overall users have peaked (for now) as well
The fact that it has fully aligned itself with the US security state doesn’t bode well for its growth in the USA or its acceptance overseas.

Only 3 women in our families use FB. One works in foreign countries and does a FB once a week to keep up with families and friends.
One DIL uses it to keep up with out of state family/friends.
One DIL is totally addicted and can’t leave it alone.
Zero males from 30 something to mid 80’s use FB. We text,
email and use phones to talk.
Twitter was/is the big thing for the young 20-30 for both females and males.
So there is no big need to be spied on or monitored by some unnamed group.
