Probably on the off chance that Trump drops out for one reason or another. All of the under 5% candidates are either vanity candidates or just wanting to be in place and ready, even if even then they have little chance. Consider that they are traveling, eating, and get publicity on the campaign money. Living rent free.

i have no problem with telling the truth. it’s always the best policy if you’re going to say anything.
but at one point a decade or so ago, i actually thought this guy might be an option for president. that is until he showed his true colors by attacking real tea party christian candidates like Akin and Murdoch.
i knew he was a horrible pick for VP.
I thought Pence was a decent guy, though not really all that much of a bright thinker.Then the way he dismissed the indications of election fraud in 2020 showed me that he’s not up to the task of taking on the Washington elite. He’s the last guy we need in the Oval Office.
When Trump was first running for office and held a debate with someone, Pence ‘n Ryan purchased a PenceRyan internet domain name to run for office, assuming Trump would or was failing the debate. When he didn’t fail the debate, the website was scrubbed. (I posted pics of the domain name registry about 4 years ago to FR)
Then a whistleblower said Pence felt resentment because Trump won what was to have been Pence’s seat as President.
Then recently, someone claimed that Pence was offered the Presidency or a Presidential campaign in exchange for not contesting the 2020 stolen election when he went to certify the results. I didn’t see proof of that, but the man does seem obsessed and entitled so I think it likely.

Pence is just another politician that trots to a podium, delivers well-crafted speeches that in the end are just meaningless words intended to fool the rubes in Republican party.
Why does he bother? I’m assuming why does he bother to run for Prez? Because the deep state needs to have the appearacne that there are good guys and bad guys on both sides of the aisle...and Donald Trump is a bad no matter what. That’s why.
Something creepy about Pence, IMHO:
At President Trump’s SOTU, cameras were trained on Pence and Pelosi as they stood in chambers, waiting for Trump to arrive. Naturally a lip reader put out a video claiming to have decoded what was said. I watched the video and believed it to be a faithful lip reading, as the cameras were close enough on the pair to make that a reasonable accomplishment, allowing viewers to decide if it seemed to match.
In that clip, Pelosi seems overawed and anxious, nervously telling Pence, “Well, we were never going to impeach YOU.”
It was as if Pence had revealed something about himself, perhaps the people supporting him, to Pelosi which so startled her she wanted to explain herself. Her body language was that of a subordinate! Well - that’s what it looked like. I found it odd that Pence had gone below radar long enough to be able to shock Pelosi like that.

I remember in 2004 at a luncheon for pro life delegates at the Republican Convention, he went from table to table and shook every single person’s hand. He was a congressman at the time

Pence wants to self-righteously bloviate, then drop out at just the right time and endorse the prevailing non-Trump (likely Desantis).But

The SMARTER candidates should not attack Trump, since he WILL be the Republican nominee (unless the Ukraine War supporters get their way), so they should be more like Vivek, and be looking for the VP slot.
