Democratic presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told a NewsNation town hall on Wednesday night he would sign an “assault weapons” ban if it reached his desk.
When RFK Jr. was asked about an “assault weapons” ban, the question was framed to reflect strong Democrat support for such a measure.
RFK Jr. responded, “If we can get a consensus on it, if Republicans and Democrats agreed and it passed Congress, I would sign it.”

What an asshole, he just blew up his campaign.
We already have an assault weapon ban ban in the form of the 10th Amendment, as there is no enumerated power for any current federal gun control laws.
The Democrats are lawless, Constitution hating, oath of office disparaging scum.
I don’t know why you are surprised. He is a Democrat. A Leopard can’t change his spots.
Oh RFK Will win the general if he can overcome the massive corruption of thr Dem Primary.
I say that as a Trump supporter.
There is little doubt RFK Jr would win the general handily if he were the candidate…
However it will take a miracle for him to be the dem candidate. The corruption of the dem system is nearly absolute… even if RFK were to get every single vote cast in the primaries the superdelegates have power enough to pick the candidate regardless of the votes
Good distinction. RFK, Jr. is one of the few liberals in the Democratic Party, the rest are Marxists of one variety or another.
Do you remember the days when liberals were viewed as evil? That Overton certainly has moved. All but a couple of dozen Republicans in Congress are now liberals by standards of forty years ago.
He’d still make a good VP for Trump since it would be Trump’s desk not his. A prospect that might well be Trumps best chance of getting a 2nd term.
Isn’t he all in for fighting global warming?
Over and over they solemnly take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution... and then go after the 2A. Really tired of it.
Other than the fact I don’t agree with him on this issue, he at least answered honestly and that will hurt him overall, but maybe not in a RAT primary.
He did say it would have to be totally bi-partisan. The scary part is that Repubs are not trustworthy regarding anything. If the price is right, they will go for it.
You can sign it, but it will get overturned.
Hopefully SCOTUS will have an assault weapon ban ruling before the ‘24 election. California has a case winding its way through the 9th Circuit.
From my scan of the article, he did not define "assault weapon", which is critical.
You mean a Progressive Democrat that has been set up as a patsy by the CIA will do him in
Good thing being born with silver spoons in your mouth wasn’t outlawed.
I don’t believe that “assault weapons” are more important than having a representative government.
The deepstate has grown so powerful and open in their illegitimate control over all aspects of foreign and domestic policy. The administrative state is the most dangerous things to human liberty and flourishing.
This definitely sucks but it isn’t a deal breaker for me.
I would rather have someone suck on “assault weapons” than suck on globalism, forever wars, the CIA, the FBI, panopticon digital surveillance, digital IDs, CBDCs, etc...
True democrat colors showing through his shroud of popularity.
He talks a good game in some areas, but don’t anyone be fooled.
Pass. Later dick tater.
Aaaand there ya go, to all those who think he is a moderate.
His vaccine stance is correct, but RFK jr epitomizes the broken clock maxim.
For all his supposed popularity, he doesn’t seem to crack 20% among dems compared to Biden’s 50% and up. The candidates have already been chosen for us.
“I was liking him (somewhat) -—until now”
What is to like about that left-wing global warming ambulance-chasing conspiracist lawyer?
