For some Republicans who endorsed Biden in 2020, the next election looks bleak
NBC News / Comcast ^ | June 29, 2023 | By Peter Nicholas and Katherine Doyle

Right after Joe Biden’s election victory in 2020, former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman got a phone call. Whitman, a Republican, had endorsed Biden in the race against then-President Donald Trump. Now, the caller said, Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris wanted her cell number.

No one ever called.

Whitman was part of a cohort of prominent Republicans who broke with the party in 2020. Fed up with Trump, they gravitated to Biden’s campaign thinking he would be a unifying figure.

Former Rep. Christopher Shays, a Republican from Connecticut, endorsed Biden in 2020 but says he is now leaning toward former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a fellow Republican. He plans to send Christie a donation and may actively campaign for him.

In January 2022, Shays sent a letter to former Sen. Chris Dodd, a Connecticut Democrat who helped lead Biden's search for a running mate. Shays wrote about two other Republicans who spoke on Biden's behalf at the Democratic convention in Milwaukee that year: former New York congresswoman Susan Molinari and ex-Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

"And this fact ... seems so hard for me to believe: both John Kasich and Susan Molinari told me that after they spoke at the Democratic convention in support of Joe, no one gave them any feedback on how they did, or just took the time to thank them, not the president or anyone one the staff, to this very day," Shays wrote.

Tom Coleman is a former Republican congressman from Missouri who endorsed Biden last time.

"They were going to stay in touch and I never heard back from them,” Coleman said. “I’m not upset about it, other than it would have been nice to say thank you after they won, but I’m a big boy, I don’t care.”

Once Biden and the DemocRATs used these turncoats, of course they were ‘ghosted’ afterwards, because the Dims knew how disloyal they were and could never trust them.

Voters often now vote party for power/control rather than if or not our nation thrives.

We knew they were RINOs before they endorsed Biden. There’s no recovering their credibility after endorsing Biden. They may as well switch parties if they haven’t already done so. That way the can be hated by Democrats too. 😂

Too stupid to realize they were just tools to be thrown away once Obama was done with them.

There are NO politically savvy patriots who voted for Creepy Joe in 2020. None.

The Bush wing is now in the Democratic Party. The Murdochs are a great example of that. Same with the Bush Family. They were all part of the GOP.

The blue collar folks used to be the base of the Democratic Party. But now they've moved over to the Republican Party even though the union bosses are still bribed to remain on the Democratic Plantation.

Lenin talked of “useful idiots” in his revolution.

The same concept applies to these guys. They were useful idiots for the Democrats in that election.

“Too stupid to realize they were just tools to be thrown away once Obama was done with them.”

The crazy part here is that Coleman, Kasich and Molinari all have DC experience. They, of all people, should have known how Democrats operate. They would have had first-hand experience with it. It was not their first rodeo.

The fact that some of them really think they would have been thanked or consulted is absolutely ludicrous.

Any Republican who endorsed Briben should be tried for treason.

If they had any decency they’d off themselves.

Christine Todd Whitman, Shays, and Coleman?! Those are “Republicans”? LOL.

Todd Whitman has been a RINO for years, Coleman left Congress in 1993...and Chris Christie is running on a “I Haaaate Trump” platform. He clearly hates the GOP base.

In other words, not Republicans.
