Exactly - you start at $15/hour.
But if you are still only at that level two years later, it means you haven’t improved yourself.
you hit the nail on the head. That is what happened with this woman on my team
HR is the biggest problem in any larger org, period.
Yup...because ALL these problems begin in HR
My grown Gen Z "kids" are the same. We've reached full circle where you can do alright by just showing up for work on time with a good work ethic and respectfulness and not drugged up. Those simple characteristics that generations ago was the expectation, are now sought after like they're rare. Or another way to put it, it works to live by Christian values in how we treat others, including the people we work for and with.
Bonus points if on top of that they have training in valuable skills (one of my "kids" got 2 year vocational training in aircraft mechanics, another is in nursing school, and the two of them may do as well as me with my BS in computer science).
Most young ones don’t know what a screwdriver does.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. God bless you and your family.
The percentage of Narcissists in the Z generation is through the roof!!!!
Why? Don’t know. Being raised on social media?
LOL. I am the first to make jokes about GenZ. I get a newsletter of perks that GenZ employees want or that reporters claim they want. Things like bringing their dogs to work. But we also have two or three GenZ workers who are very dedicated. They come into the office every day. Wear suits when hardly anyone else does. I think, as always, its a matter of how their parents brought them up. If the parents instilled a work ethic, the kids will have one. If not, the kids will be lazy and entitled. So when we blame GenZ, we really ought to be pointing the finger at ourselves for raising them wrong.
Big time. They stared DEI panel at my job..
I work with a number of Gen Z and Millennials, and I have the same observations.
We have had a few bad hires, who moved on. The rest are competent and great to work with.
I had pretty much the same attitudes as the Gen Z people when I first entered the work force. I knew everything and was quick to tell everybody about it.
Life provides continuing education on those points.
It is clear that you aren't talking about hardware or software engineers.
I know plenty of older employees who are terrible.
Many young employees are great.
Maybe the Hill interviewed the older terribles who are afraid since they’re now hearing footsteps.
Those “zero” morons only have three goals in life. Eat Mexican fast food and pizza all the time. Spend all day poking a cell phone and taking selfies and posting them online so everyone on the planet will know how wonderful they are. They all consider themselves “rock stars”.
What the hell is a Gen Zer? Can we not be more precise in our language? Or, are we afraid that we might identify a problem?
I suspect that that HR head is going to regret talking to the press so openly. I made a similar mistake as a young man when I gave my opinion on a certain IT system we were installing, which created ill will between myself and my stakeholders. Corporate HR issued a new policy regarding public communications not long after my error.
The media are not your friends.
My good friend just retired this week as a Bank Manager because of the difficulty working with younger people and their poor work ethic attitudes.
For all the “charter schools”, and all the SAT-classes, and all the “early” programs, these kids are morons. They’ve been patted on the head for not pissing on themselves when taking a pee for so long that they think they can remove the fans from their bathrooms because their sh*t don’t stink.
Yeah, but your name probably isn’t something like Akpan Ukeme.
