Three-quarters of bosses find Generation Z workers a trifle difficult, a corporate survey has found.
A poll of 1,344 managers and business leaders by ResumeBuilder.com found that 74 percent consider Gen Z employees more challenging than older staffers.
Pressed for specifics, employers did not mince words.
“They think they’re better than you, smarter than you, more capable than you, and they will tell you to your face,” said Akpan Ukeme, head of human resources at SGK Global Shipping Services.
Generation Z is the youngest cohort in the American workforce, with birth years starting around 1997. Many surveys and studies have labored to define them. The findings suggest they have not gone quietly into their cubicles

She would even scream at the supervisor, oh hell no! I am not doing that! Complete victim.
HR was terrified of her. Finally got her to agree to resign.
I've seen a lot of super toxic people get promoted. It can be an effective method to "make the problem go away". But it has terrible long-term effects for the company because management gets filled with toxic people.
They are pretty dang good in the technology area and can find solutions that are not in the status quo. Finding solutions that are outside the box makes the older workers very nervous.
HR thought she would sue after being fired. They called me in about her performance and the woman kept going on and on about how nice she is and not really addressing the real problem
The employee wasn’t the problem. The supervisor was.
Of course, supervisors sleeping with employees has always disrupted the work environment, but in the old days the supervisors were smart enough to transfer their side piece to a buddy to supervise.
>>“Every generation coming into the workforce has some talk about them,” Haller said. “The millennials were entitled, and no one wanted to work with them. Now, they’re sought-after. And why is that? They have 10 years’ experience.”
Bottom line is that the educational establishment does a terrible job of preparing young people for employment.
I think that the term they’re looking for is “pretentious f#cktards.”
Supervisor is a big woke progressive. Enough said.
Something created it.
It originated somewhere.
I defend Gen x and gen z. I’m x.
Work sucks. Everyone makes 15 an hour, regardless of how well the company is doing. Rarely are jobs found that give 40 hours.
School didn’t teach anyone how to do actual work. YouTube sets the standard now. Onlyfans. Crypto psuedo-rich.
99.99999 prevent of the rest get to work in restaurants.
And they will make it so I can work for as long as I want.
Also, it was a given that high school students would have at least a summer job, if not a part-time job throughout the year.
That’s no longer the case.
BWWAAAAHHHHAAAA
“””“They think they’re better than you, smarter than you, more capable than you, and they will tell you to your face,””””
We have had these type of young workers a long time.
The difference today is that there a lot more of them.
The schools indoctrinate kids to be advocates and to never back down.
For one, I am glad that I retired from management a long time ago when I only had to deal with such people on an occasional basis.
I have genZer kids and have instilled in them a good work ethic, so far it’s working out very well for them. It’s a gold mine out there for someone who puts in at least half an effort.
Schools haven’t taught people a lot about the workplace in a long time. But we all figured it out as young adults back in the 70s. I had a paper route as a young teen, part time employment and even full time in my senior year of high school.
You learn to work by - working. By watching people that actually know how to do it, and have been doing it for a long time.
If you walk in the front door of an employer thinking that you’re destined to bypass everyone there, then YOU are the problem. Self-entitled Karens need to get back to the bottom rung and EARN the respect that they crave.
Depends on which industry.
I’m a “Gen X” cusp of “Millenial” and work in specifically AI/ML and business intelligence (good ole datawarehousing). I work with quite a few Millenials and Gen Z’s
I haven’t found them much different from other generations.
They aren’t more tech savvy - heck, I have a 65 year old guy who dabbles with new microservices, R, Kubernetes etc. and he’s better than any of the young ‘uns - and able to come up with new ideas.
And they aren’t any more problematic than other generations.
Perhaps it is the business
Maybe because the the publik skoolz have done such a great job of teaching and promoting self-esteem before they have actually accomplished anything?
Instead of whining the solution used to be to change jobs or such it up, or start your own business.
For me work doesn’t suck.
I was lucky and am lucky enough to do what I really enjoy, am pretty good at it and it pays velly, velly good.
I do realize that isn’t the same for everyone, but for me I’ve been blessed enough to have this line of work.
Impossible to reprimand, let alone terminate for incompetence. If I were in HR, I'd actively avoid hiring them.
