I suspect that one of the reasons that (conservative) boycotts are finally becoming effective is because, with the bad economy and massive inflation, people are now looking for reasons to spend less money anyway, and spend what they do have more carefully.

It's a bit mystifying as to the cause of what appears to be a massive failure of marketing departments in general to anticipate the reactions to advertisement campaigns. Doesn't anybody test this stuff anymore? There has never been a time when such data have been more easily gathered and yet we see Blight stumble into a virtual minefield with the blindfold of ideology firmly in place. We see Target putting sex-change exhortations next to the kiddie department. We see Disney tossing bomb after Woke bomb into the unreceptive arms of an increasingly skeptical public. We see management after management apparently caught completely by surprise at the zeitgeist that should have been picked up immediately by marketeers who are not besotted by their own moral perfection and resort to actual communications with their customers as they once did.

Progressivism is a virus that infects both the eyes and the brain, turning its victims into uncritical infants sucking at the teat of the Next Big Thing. The smart companies have figured this out already and the dumb ones are paying the price.
