FOX News anchor Maria Bartiromo tore into Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sunday as he continues to fall behind in national polls.
'Maria, these are narratives,' the Florida governor said of the news that he is trailing in the polls.
'The media does not want me to be the nominee,' he claimed. 'I think that's very, very clear. Why? Because they know I will beat Biden. But more importantly they know I will actually deliver on all these things.'
At that point, the FOX News host decided to close out the interview by asking the governor if he plans to participate in the GOP primary debate on August 23.
'I think up to this point, a lot of that has been about some of these legal cases,' he explained, apparently shifting the attention to Trump's recent indictments. 'And I think a lot of the voters [are concerned] about that, and understandably so.'

And gives the reason he's campaigning....
He thinks Trump will be taken out of the race so he'll have a chance.
The donors know they are on thin ice, they don't know how thin the ice is, they are desperate to find out - and when they do, they will become even more dangerous than they already are.
I did not hear any whining in the interview. If you are labeling comments about the media as whining, DeSantis has nothing on Trump for that!
The media is ignoring him. Trump is the guy the media selected to be the republican nominee.
Trump might be taken out of the race. It’s a long shot but one of the 100s of charges might stick long enough to cause trouble.
Yes I know there are die hard trump supporters that would vote for him even if he is in jail but let’s be honest there are many more republican voters that won’t.
This is actually pretty simple: it’s not about DeSantis. He’s made some goofs but nothing major. It’s all about the support Trump has. And the fact that the Demscum have essentially martyred him.
Took every bit of the bait for the length of the interview: hook, line, and sinker.
It’s a problem that Ron’s campaign isn’t any better.
Trump or no Trump a poor campaign is a problem especially in the general election.
He needs to get a whole lot better if he tries again in 2028.

He's right about the first part.
Even if any of these indictments somehow end up in a conviction that does not knock Trump out of contention.
Like Rocky, Trump does not know the meaning of “quit”, because it would go against every instinct he has. Trump conclusively demonstrated he can face what for another candidate would be insurmountable obstacles, and still prevail. Richard Nixon was tough, but Trump has every measure of that toughness and more. After all, he developed his business acumen doing deals in New York City, and if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. To quote Frank Sinatra.
The DeSantis campaign started with that Twitter Spaces fiasco announcement, and hasn’t gotten any better.
DeSantis appears to think Trump will be taken out via Lawfare, because that’s what his donors told him.
Even if he is (or something more direct like Colosio) DeSantis has proved to be such a bad candidate that the Republicans Swamp will want someone more competent.
Trump 2.0 is what is happening.
