Hochul blames Cuomo, Albany for bail mess and insists she fixed it, says NYC getting safer

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Sunday blamed the state’s soft-on-crime bail-reform mess on former boss Andrew Cuomo and Albany pols, claiming she “held the budget up” this year to fix it.

Hochul said she has been fighting to reverse the controversial 2019 bail measures — while adding that the Big Apple is bouncing back from a post-pandemic crime wave to become one of the country’s safest big cities, even as New Yorkers flee the state.

“People say they’re going to leave our state because it’s not safe,” the governor told host John Catsimatidis on WABC-770 radio’s “Cat’s Roundtable.” “Tell me the city you’re going to, and I can guarantee we have a safer crime rate than you have in those cities: Miami, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, even Salt Lake City and Austin.

“We are better off,” she said. “I’m not going to say statistics should make people feel better. Let us keep doing our job and working hard to make sure that people stop committing these crimes.

“We’re not done yet by any stretch of the imagination, but it is nowhere what it had been before.”

A survey earlier this year found that nearly one-third of New Yorkers want to leave the Empire State when they retire, with crime cited as the main reason — which many critics blame on criminal-justice reforms. …

"....NYC getting safer"

Well....when all the law abiding people have left, those that remain will have to steal and murder each other. The crime rate will indeed decrease. For each confrontation, one more creep will assume room temperature, and begin their long dirt nap.

NY democRATS will push through voting rights for all convicts, in and out of prison. Dead convict voting will become a hot polling item. I can just see the headlines and talking heads reporting on the latest dead convict vote trend. Anyone challenging their right to vote will immediately be labeled a hater, and also labeled, of course,....wait for it...... racist!

Instead of traditional bail, perhaps bail offense insurance could be required.

This insurance would cover up to say $10,000 minimum the costs of offenses during release and a $10,000 recapture reward.

The legal necessity of such insurance would take effect if at least three companies are licensed to offer it.

If say an accused shoplifter was arrested and was released after supplying insurance, any store owner robbed by the covered person could claim on the insurance.

NYC’s crime stats are better than Salt Lake City’s? That seems unlikely.

“The FBI web site recommends against using its data for ranking because these rankings lead to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting cities and counties, along with their residents. The FBI web site also recommends against using its data to judge how effective law enforcement agencies are, since there are many factors other than law enforcement that influence crime rates.”

Hochul The Fool is absolute liar. "...while adding that the Big Apple is bouncing back from a post-pandemic crime wave to become one of the country’s safest big cities..."

It's not a "post-pandemic" crime wave. It was fully sanctioned during the COVID-1984 Scamdemic lockdowns. If you were Democrat rioter, you could march with governors and mayors in defiance of those same politicians' illegal diktats.

As for safety, Hochul the Fool can take gunfire from the next gun wielding urbanite such as the recent scooter murderer in New York City.

Just look at the range of his hunting ground. Not one armed citizen or cop to stop him as he rode around shooting people.

He was arrested "just under two hours after it all started". TWO HOURS.

Lucky for other potential victims, the murderer hadn't ditched the scooter and tried to hide because then he'd still be on the loose.

“In his first year as Manhattan D.A., Alvin Bragg—who took over January 1, 2022—downgraded 52 percent of felonies to misdemeanors (compared to 39 percent downgraded in 2019). So of course felony statistics declined. But felony victims increased. Just as bad, Bragg sports a lousy 51 percent conviction rate for felonies he did charge.”

“I work across the street from Penn Station. In his last few years in office, de Blasio allowed riots to take place with impunity, destroying one business after another. The area is a disaster. The storefronts are still boarded up and the crime element is as bad as ever.

“It must also be said that when the police are told to “stand down,” as they have for the past several years, crime statistics will not appear as high as they really should. In other words, we are dealing with a mirage. Couple this with the continued demonization of the police and what we have is lawlessness that is out of control.

“When Giuliani and Bloomberg were mayor, those who live within 50 miles of the city would not hesitate to come into New York for shopping, plays, concerts, sports and restaurants. Now relatively few do. The decline in revenue that the city was banking on is going to become its next big problem. It’s going bust.”
