Biden's electric vehicle push is doomed to failure, warn carmakers

Joe Biden’s race to embrace electric vehicles risks overwhelming US charging infrastructure and creating disastrous supply shortages, two of the world’s biggest carmakers have said.

Toyota and Vauxhall owner Stellantis accused the President of being “overly optimistic” in his push for a rule that would require two thirds of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2032.

The companies were quick to point out that they support a move to low-emissions vehicles and electric cars in particular but warned that they need customers to buy them and that costs are still too high for the mass market.

The cars typically cost about £10,000 more than comparable petrol-burning versions, with many drivers able to recoup the difference through cheaper charging over the life of the vehicle.

Toyota warned the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that there would also be a rush to secure lithium and other minerals needed to make battery-powered cars if the plans went ahead.

Toyota said: “The proposed rule underestimates key challenges including the scarcity of minerals to make batteries, the fact that these minerals are not mined or refined in the US, the inadequate infrastructure, and the high cost of [battery electric vehicles].”

Stellantis, which owns Vauchall, Fiat and Chrysler among other brands, said: “The proposed rule significantly underestimates the actions needed to build the targeted EV market…

The whole idea is to disrupt the US economy for his Chinese paymasters.

The Left would remove 20 million automobiles off the roads. We’ll use mass transit. You’ll still be able to buy EV but it’ll cost 80 thousand. Pete Buttigieg will be able to afford it.

Can The Tater sniff the new EVs, like an eight-year-old girl in the shower?

Can Jenny, the Bimbo of Energy, electrify the entire M1 Abrams tank fleet?

He doesn’t give a rat’s read end. He will try to do it anyway.

It's not about saving the planet, it's about controlling energy resources (and food and money).

Do you think the "elite" are going to give up their private jets, yachts, air conditioning, cenrtal heat and Waygu?🤣

It's about controlling you and me.

And you know the model that that Klaus and Grygory look at, with dreamy eyes?

Take a guess.

It starts with X and ends with I.

You mean Communist-style central planning might not be a good idea?

Who could have guessed!?

We don’t have enough electrical generation, enough transmission and distribution infrastructure, nor enough mining and materials processing to support this transition. All of this stuff takes a decade for new capacity, and more. There are existing shortfalls even before EVs.

The push is insanity. Or intentional, to control us better.

From the article:

“The reticence from Toyota and Stellantis is at odds with Tesla, which only makes battery-powered cars and is one of the largest producers.”

I wish I could find it, but even Musk has said this regulatory push is crazy.

Bingo. And just where are all these minerals going to come from? Oh, that's right: CHINA.

Because Democrats and EnvironMENTAList whacko's won't let us mine for them here in the good ol' USA.

The entire Biden & Evil Democrat plan is to subjogate us to the CCP. That's as plain as day.

with many drivers able to recoup the difference through cheaper charging over the life of the vehicle.

That assumes that electricity prices will not increase as demand increases and supply stays the same or even decreases as unreliable and expensive "renewable" sources take over from gas, oil, and nuclear.

Surely the senile sadistic evil occupier of our House in DC is aware there is an EV industry already in place that fills his bill. It’s just that he’s too stupid to know it. So, lets kill the real public transportation system by banning fossil fuels while the sales war goes on in the Golf Cart industry.

They aren’t just Golf Carts. That’s how it got started, but today it’s personal transportation. Take your pick gas or electric. The world sales leader is found in Florida, USA.

The price difference between what the sniffer sees as an EV and the sustainable personal transportation EV/Golf Cart is truly eyewatering, but then maybe you knew that already.

For those clamoring always for more information, I forgot to say the mileage for both electric and gas is close to the same, approximately 200 mile range before a charge or fill up is required.

That spells out the usage of said vehicles short haul and slow in comparison to a much larger ice vehicle used for the long haul carrying much more weight in fuel luggage and people and doing that job much more efficiently.

So Joe needs to be vigorously questioned as to why his way or the highway is the only way. Both industries are important and necessary for life as “We the People” see it not Dick Tators way.

Why should actual market principles and a customer's actual ability to pay much less choose a product keep the climate- industrial complex from forcing their demands down the throats of their “marks” and “rubes?” < sarc >

We in the RED Free State of Florida see right through this evil plot to restrict our freedom of travel,
Soon car makers will start to build plants in RED states and the imbeciles in the Blue states will have to come here to buy a car.
