Ron DeSantis, quit now and save yourself for DeFuture
The Hill ^ | 7/14/23 | Myra Adams

The day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) won reelection by a shocking 19-point margin, the Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post screamed a one-word front page headline: “DeFuture.”

The celebratory photo showed a Kennedy-esque, central-casting-worthy family. Casey DeSantis, holding hands with her two small children, looked like a future first lady in her stunning gold designer gown on her way to the inaugural ball. The victorious governor held their third child with one arm, waving to the crowd with the other.

Looking back at that eight-month-old New York Post front page, not only have the powerful Murdochs reportedly soured on DeSantis, but seemingly then-unimaginable questions are being raised. Is the DeSantis presidential campaign already in a death spiral? Will the Florida governor seek an early exit to save his national political future? Will he rebrand for 2028 — presumably a non-Trump-dominated political cycle? Or could DeSantis yet star as the “comeback kid” of 2024? If not, will his 2024 failure blossom into 2028 hope?

Should DeSantis have listened to the folks who supported his reelection but wanted him to stay on the sidelines in 2024? In retrospect, yes.

My fear is that Trump can (and easily will) win the nomination, but will likely not overcome the hard anti-Trump sentiment as well as voter fraud in the general.

Even still, I think DeSantis should get behind Trump and wait his turn.

If only he had waited until 2028.

This is why we have primaries. Republicans get to decide if DeSantis should wait in line.

Yup. I fully expected to vote for DeSantis on 2028. At this point, I think he has shown enough poor judgement that he’s off my list of acceptable people. Not 2024. Not 2028. Not ever.

DeSantis is reminding me of the the former Guv of Wisconsin, the Conservative Warrior who looked good on paper but hopped on the first train to Nowheresville when his time came.

He’s doing pretty good as Governor of Florida but sure is clumsy on the national stage.

I figure that Big Money persuaded him to jump into the fish fry now.

The only guy who stands a chance against Trump is Obama, and he will make certain the apparatus of the State will block and checkmate Trump. It’s Obama and his crew that are steering the ship from behind their very own Iron Curtain.

President Trump will be convicted and jailed by Summer of 2024, while he waits trials on other charges. It’s the Zapruder film via the courts. Chaos will ensue.

Our Overlords thrive on chaos.

I agree. And before Trump dirties him up beyond repair. We need a strong DeSantis to kick out Slick, Slimy Newsom in 2028.

but will likely not overcome the ... voter fraud in the general...

I feel confident that he will.

Trump signed EO 13848 (Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election).

Extended by "bidEn", on Sept 7 2022.

I didn't think it was a good idea for Desantis to run against Trump. I figured it would destroy a lot of his support from Trump voters. Those are votes he would need if he ran in 2028. There doesn't seem to be a lot of upside for Desantis in 2024. Hopefully he learns to campaign better for nationwide office without doing too much damage to his political future.

DeSantis obviously needs to learn to campaign.

It is best that he learns before the 2028 campaign season.

If we never, ever see a Republican POTUS ever again, then what’s the point with such articles like this one? The Left has been focusing on successful political cheating AND successful judicial activism, for a long time, and they are “winning”! Ignorance of these facts, by all non-leftists everywhere, isn’t helping the non-left to win future elections! It’s all going to hit the non-Leftist side really hard, after losing, yet again!

Agreed
He crapped the pool-

Zero political future- hope he saves that campaign cash he’s flipping around so loosely - He’s gonna need to live off it for a few years.

It’s too late for that.

DeSantis could have had it all, if Pres Trump wins in 2024.

He would have continued to get credit for what the legislature has been doing in Florida with tremendous help from all the other folks in government down to the smallest town.

Could have then landed a nice Cabinet post..AG or SecDef. Two that the opposition would have a very hard time coming up with excuses about why he shouldn’t have either.

And then a successful transition as Pres Trump walks out of the White House.

But.....NOPE. He had to listen to the users and abusers that treat him like a $2 whore.

Oh well
