Some Freepers call her a RINO. I don’t know enough about her record to say. But apparently some people are skeptical of her.
Stuff that works in, and for, Iowa doesn’t necessarily work for the rest of America. It’s a sometimes frustrating but necessary part of the Republic.
Iowa is big into corn and big agriculture. Those politics support arguably non-conservative interests like things like factory farming, commercial meat processinf, glyphosphates, ethanol, seed oils, and processed foods. They’re also a lot more pro-migrant labor than the average R voter.
If Iowa didn’t have the primary position that it does, ethanol subsidies would have probably been at least discussed honestly by national candidates.
