Peace, minding our own business, spending our hundreds of billions here, stop all dying on both sides, this is going to really upset a lot of people around here.
🙏🙏🙏
Can you believe it: the extreme MAGA right wingers who are going to get us in a nuclear war with Russia the moment Trump gets his finger on the button are the party of Peace.
Trump’s a Putin Puffer! /s
I shouldn’t have to put the tag…
This is Nixon’s secret plan to end the war in Vietnam. It’s a great crowd pleaser, but not an operational plan.
According to political philosopher Vlad Vexler Putin believes that the West will lose interest and all he has to do is not lose and he’ll win. Someone who wants the greater good for Europe and Ukraine should find phrasing that gives a sound bite but does not encourage Putin to hold out.
Putin wants three things. First is regime security. He started the war thinking it would be a repeat of 2014. He prepared for it by amassing a 300-billion-dollar war chest. He expected a fast victory that would secure his apparent popularity. His last election where 149% of the population voted led to riots. If he appeared popular, then there wouldn’t be as many riots this time. The next thing Putin wants is to secure nine access points where a numerically smaller military can plug the gaps. Russia’s demographic is so bad this was the last opportunity for a major war. Unfortunately, securing Ukraine only secures the path to two of those access points. Most of them are in NATO countries. This is why NATO is so uncharacteristically unified in supplying arms. The final thing is Russia wants control of its “near abroad.” That’s the old Soviet Union. Control gives them population, taxes, and cheap labor and a fully built out infrastructure. Nobody in the old Soviet space wants to be back under Russian control. Hence their support of Ukraine.
Every time Trump says he wants to stop people from dying Putin hears that as Trump will force the West to surrender as that’s the only way people will stop dying.
Peace.
One of the many problems with trying to equate this war with WW2, Ukr is Poland 1939 Analogy, is the opposite sides were not armed to the teeth with nukes: must see…..

Of course I wish that the Ukrainians - both innocent civilians and the Ukrainians fighting to push back the invading Russian armies - would stop dying at the hands of their Russian invaders.
I am admittedly not all that concerned about the welfare of the hoards of troops whom Putin has conscripted from Central Asia, or the mercenaries from predominately Muslim states.
But Putin could stop this in 24 hours - if he only wanted. He has it in his power. All he would have to do is withdraw his invading troops. Simple as that!
Why should we be more concerned about saving the lives of Russian troops than Putin himself is?
Regards,
I find that answer weird, and clapping it is a bit like clapping “world peace!” at a beauty pageant.
Nobody in their right mind wants to see the death toll keep spiralling upwards. President Trump definitely doesn’t.
Nobody in their right mind wants America to keep blowing more and more resources on that war. President Trump definitely doesn’t.
Nobody in their right mind prefers foreign adventures in Syria, Ukraine, Iraq and other places to securing America’s borders and keeping illegal immigrants out. President Trump definitely doesn’t.
Trump doesn’t ever answer the only questions that actually do matter.
- If Russia wins, does the killing in Ukraine stop.
- If Ukraine wins, does the killing in Ukraine stop.
- Is Putin’s “unfinished business” obsession with Ukraine like the Bush family’s “unfinished business” in Iraq. As in, how do you know he won’t just do it again, like Grozny.
- Since Putin, Prighozin, Kadyrov, Medvedev and Lukashenko have all pointed at other countries they’re not even at war with to hit after Ukraine - the Baltics, Finland, Moldova, Poland - and some of them have even threatened to nuke London, Paris, Berlin and several US cities, do you really think they’re rational actors whose agreements on a bit of paper are going to be worth the ink.
And, given the answers to the above, which scenario ACTUALLY results in the USA’s national security interest being served best for the least amount of expense, Ukraine winning or Russia winning?
AKA = Appeaser .
Sadly true!
I have always been a staunch Trump supporter, voting for him twice. But his (apparent) stance on the Russian invasion of Ukraine gives me pause.

PDJT is a genuine American PAtriot.
NOt really. Pootin knows that TReumo will totallu destroy h9s miligtary t9 stop the dying.
You assume its surrender. You assume wrong.
And there you fall into the Bimbo's trap which Trump evaded. You see this in black and white. Ukraine wins or Russia wins. Well first what does winning even look like? What are your goals for this war? Can your goals be acheived.
Yes you have becomde the Bimbo. For Ukraine to win, Russia has to lose. Russia losing is an existential problem for Russia. That means total war to stop that from happening. That means nuclear war waged by the world's largest nulcear power.
Which means you die. Unfortunately all the rest of us die too.
What's choice number two? In your Russia wins or Ukrain wins model, choice 2 is Russia wins. T
Trump's choice is no one wins. We stop killing everyone instead.
I know that is not ok with you but it sounds pretty good to me.
I personally am sick of our loser war mongers who have been losing wars all over the globe for 73 years now.
Starting from that premise there is nowhere to go except total nuclear war that annihilates all of us. It is pretty well admitted that we in the west prodded and provoked until he had little choice.
Hear, hear!
"How horrible, fantastic, incredible it is that we should be [spending money and risking war] here because of a quarrel in a far-away country between people of whom we know nothing."
Yes, Peace and Prosperity.
I haven't seen that one in a while. I forget the name of the poster who loved to call us that :)
When you fight a war and spend lots of blood and treasure and don't get what you want did you win or lose? Do you lose worse if you settle early or settle later? Do you win or lose if the other side dies the same ignominious death in a nuclear holocaust that you did fighting over an issue entirely peripheral to your own interests?
“When you fight a war and spend lots of blood and treasure and don’t get what you want did you win or lose?”
That depends. If you’re asking the military industrial complex, the answer is, “WE WIN! We got what we wanted. Mo’ money. Mo’ money.”
