Detroit is what happens when crime gets too bad.

old fashioned hard-to-remove price gun stickers
Waitrose
Salisbury
SKU 1003
They are easy to apply and could be made very hard to remove.
They might reduce the need to place lots of merchandise in locked containers.

Ink labeling guns could also identify products as say Walgreens and make it hard to fence items.

absolutely close the stores , or put bars on the windows and make the entrances have a turnstyle gate while you must look straight into a camera for a photo op..maybe have to show your license...OR conversely, leave the door open but have a guard with a shotgun up on a high ladder.....

Smart camera networks could be setup that could trace burglars back for many blocks.
From what I’ve read about the U.K. such cameras are ubiquitous. But since the police are apparently disinterested in the crime of burglary, they are not used for this purpose. On the other hand police are encouraging neighbors to report people exceeding the local speed limit.

“Close all the stores and let the woke idiots figure it out themselves”
As you know from living in Chicago, Dem voters are not fast studies, even when shot, robbed and raped they will elect a “Brandon”. May be when they can’t get food…….but don’t bet on it.

There will probably be an airlock that requires the other door to be closed before the next door can be opened. Someone will actively push a button to open one or both doors. Very effective. When I worked for SFPD and sometimes visited the Communications Room at the Hall of Justice, I had to identify myself at the door, enter and the door shut behind me, and then identify myself again for the second door to be opened. Very intimidating, especially knowing the people inside are armed and I'm stuck with no way of leaving on my own.
The only improvement on that would be the ability to spray knockout gas inside.

British spokesman: “We got the idea from watching American television news reports.”
Except for right side steering wheels for the getaway SUVs waiting outside it’s pretty much identical over here.
