Some of us will still be alive in 27 years to point out how wrong they are and how stupid they are. But not many of us. And we all get forgetful. This is the calculated rationale for pushing the new deadline out so far. Placing the deadlines ten years out hasn't been working out for them so well.

That book The Population Bomb (1968) was on the rack size paperback bestseller lists.
Overpopulation out of control. “It predicted worldwide famine due to overpopulation, as well as other major societal upheavals, and advocated immediate action to limit population growth.”Doom by 2000.
Now the “science” predicts too low population will ruin everything any second.
