Most Ukrainians speak Russian as a first language.
It’s quite adjustment for Poles, as a few years ago, nobody would be caught dead speaking Russian in Poland. When I went to Warsaw last year, now I see signs in Polish, Russian and Ukrainian.

I never met a Pole over 45 who can’t speak Russian, at least to a some degree.

Wasn’t it forced on them? I thought that was why they ditched it as fast as they could and went back to Ukrainian.
My Polish pal is still mad about being forced to learn Russian in grade school.
