The world wondered why the long-discussed Ukrainian Spring offensive didn’t arrive until Summer, and now we know why, as Ukrainian President Zelensky says he simply didn’t have the men or the equipment to launch it any earlier.
The Ukrainian counteroffensive didn’t start when expected because “frankly, we didn’t have enough munitions, armaments, not enough brigades properly trained in these weapons” to do so, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told the Aspen Security Forum on Friday.
This delay gave Russian forces more time to dig in, he said, which further slowed progress once things actually started. He said it “provided Russia with time to mine all of our land and provide several lines of defence. They had more than they needed, so they built more of those lines and really they have a lot of mines in our fields. Because of this we had a slower rate of our counteroffensive actions.”

Frankly, the Russian fortifications were built quite hastily over the course of a few weeks and you don’t need a lot of energy to plant mines nowadays as well.
Not a great selling point for future charitable donations.

Maybe this might be a good time to give diplomacy a try instead, if the real priority is peace.

The war is already lost. The question is when will we ‘stop digging’ the deep hole Z (and the US) are already in? My guess is when there is no more blood (i.e. money) that can be squeezed out of this particular turnip. Biden is compromised/blackmailed so he won’t stop - he’ll have to BE stopped.
Zelenskyyyy had enough men, but they’re all dead now. The Ukrainian Special Forces is made up of NATO advisers and western mercenaries. Their only purpose is to snipe.
There has to be a PHD thesis sitting there for the taking wrt this hoho inferiority complex involving languages... Does "ukrainian" include ANYTHING other than garbled versions of Russian words??
How in hell, for instance, do they get 'Volodomyr' out of "Vladimir". And then they try to outlaw the use of Russian in the ethnically Russian areas of the place. I mean, between Russian and "ukrainian", "ukrainian" is the dead language.
Maybe they should just switch to squeezing the weasel. Nothing else seems to be working.
