Woman applauded for refusing to give up her first class seat to a child

Their inability to plan was totally not her emergency.

A traveler is being lauded online for her response to a mother who tried to take away her dream seat in first class — just so she could sit closer to her teen.

Sabra, a Seattle pharmacist and influencer who posts on TikTok as @lifewithdrsabra, posted a short clip from a recent Air France flight from the Pacific Northwest to Paris, detailing the situation and how she dealt with it.

The 6-second video, captioned “POV: Flight agent asks me if I want to give up my 1A seat so a child sits with their family,” shows her lounging on her first class seat, while a popular TikTok audio drop — “Girl, f – – k them kids and f – – k you too” — plays in the background.

“That’s a no from me dawg,” Sabra wrote in the caption with a laughing emoji, asking her followers: “Would you have given up your seat?”

The clip has been viewed over 9 million times, with many people — parents included — agreeing she shouldn’t have been expected to move. Many applauded her for standing her ground.

“Nope, cause, as a mom, it’s a parents responsibility to plan ahead,” added another. “Just traveled to Europe for 1.5 months with my toddler and no one had to move.” *** Some suggested people do it to wrangle their way into a free upgrade.

“Just know they booked two business and one eco thinking they’ll strong-arm someone into giving up their seat,” commented a user.

“I wonder if some families actually on purpose buy the cheapest tickets, to plan to ask someone for their seat. *** “So no, I am not a terrible human being,” she quipped. “Also the child was like 13.” ***

Although the person who refused to give up her seat communicates like a hood rat, she’s got a point. There are too many entitled mothers out there who think the world owes them something because they managed to procreate.

That said, I’d gladly give my seat up to an elderly veteran…unless his name is John Kerry, Bowe Bergdahl, General Milley etc. Nevermind, I’m not giving up my seat for anyone.

I understood the mom wanted this traveler to give up her window seat and move to a middle seat so she could sit next to an 11 year old and a 16 year old. Not really like a 3 year old separated from mom.

It’s rude for them to even ask. If it was important to the family to sit together, the rest of them could trade to eco with the child. They don’t want to do that so why should you? Their failure to plan (or scam) doesn’t put a burden on others. They are able to solve the “problem” themselves.

so throwing mothers under the bus I see in one swoop...nice.......

in this case though, the woman had every right to sit where she was intended...the kids were not that young...

No. 13 year-old sitting in economy. His family wants to trade the traveler out of first-class!

I am sure two people in economy would of been glad to take their business class seats to Paris so that they could sit together with their teen in COACH!

I agree. The children were old enough to sit by themselves, especially if the two kids were seated together.

Truth be told, I am fairly certain the children would welcome the break from their parents.

I swear, I saw a video of a woman talking yesterday about a mom wanting this traveler to give up her window seat and move to a middle seat so she could sit next to an 11 year old and a 16 year old. I assumed it was the same story.

Guess there’s a number of entitled moms out there.

I was asked to give up my seat once so a family could all sit together. I get a little nervous on flights, and the window seat helps calm me down. It’s something about being able to see what the plane is doing. So I politely refused. Am I a monster?

I found the video of the story I saw. Definitely 2 different women with very similar stories.

No, you paid for it, stay where you are. Guilt can work both ways—except for those that everything their way.....

According to the story, they purchased two First Class seats and one Econ so they thought they could get a first class seat for free and guilt someone into giving up their First Class seat and taking their Priceline.com seat.

NOPE.

Your failure to plan does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Sincerely,

Former flight attendant.

Seen it for decades - the parents are the worst. If you are on the fence about wanting kids, take a flight to Orlando.

If a man did the same thing, everyone there and here would villify him.

Why didn't mom ask the economy class passenger sitting next to her teen to move to first class so she could sit next to her teen?

The kids ages arent relevant. Then mom trades to sit back where the kids’ seat is.

Am I a monster?

Depends on which side of the window you’re on.

The US northwest to Paris? A Seattle to Paris first class is over $10k. The fact anyone in the family was in first class suggests they are pretty well to do.

‘If you are on the fence about wanting kids, take a flight to Orlando.”

You could look at this another way. You can see the way kids are being badly raised and decide to have your own and raise them right.

Probably not to many “normal” folks are social media influencers. To mundane for the kiddies.
