DeSantis: Two-Tiered Justice System ‘Got Worse’ on Trump’s Watch
Breitbart ^ | July 31, 2023 | IAN HANCHETT

During an interview with the Fox News Channel aired on Monday’s broadcast of “Special Report,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that there are two standards of justice, and “Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp.” DeSantis also predicted that Trump would have a “very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need” to take down the administrative state.

DeSantis said, “Well, this is why we say there [are] two standards of justice. If Hunter were a Republican, he’d be in jail by now. You look at all of this smoke, and yet, the FBI, where [are] the search warrants? Where is the grand jury? Where’s the aggressiveness that they’ve shown going after some Republicans? You just don’t see it.”

He added that the treatment of former President Trump is another example of the two tiers of justice and stated that with the Mar-a-Lago raid, they “went through everything they could to get any piece of information. They are not doing that with Hunter. Of course, they didn’t do it with Hillary back in 2016. So, we look at that. But look at all of the possible corruption. Hunter, he’s selling paintings for over a million dollars. My six-year-old daughter does better paintings than him, maybe we’ll put ours up and see what kind of things she can fetch. I don’t think we’re going to get a million dollars on it. We will go in there and we will make all of this stuff better very, very quickly.”

DeSantis continued, “And, look, Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp. My worst critics and

Exactly! It will be chaos for the RINOS. Each interim being worse for them than the previous.

Thanks for confirming how great it is.

So what is Trump’s strategy to get around the RINOs in the senate in 2024? Oh wait, he doesn’t have one because people keep giving him a pass for his crappy appointments.

If each interim gets worse for the RINOS, they won’t double down for long. LOL.

Thanks for confirming it’s a great idea.

What is trump’s idea for 2024 to beat the RINOS in teh senate? Oh wait, he doens’t need one because you’ll make excuses for him. He loves it. He doesn’t have to do anything because you’ll just blame rinos.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth. And aside from one “idea” of yours, your strategy to convince people is to pile on ad hominem.

"DeSantis reminded the audience that until Nov. 1, 2022, Trump was praising him as one of the country’s best governors"

Has DeSantis ever bothered to mention, or thank his Republican majority State Legislature that gave him everything he wanted, even allowing him not to resign, in order to run for President? People think DeSantis did all those wonderful things all on his own, but the truth is, that DeSantis wouldn't have the record he has if it wasn't for the State Legislature backing him, and giving him the boost up. DeSantis has never served under a Democrat majority. When he was in the House of Representatives, Republicans controlled the House the whole time he was there. So let's be honest here. If DeSantis didn't have a more than 2 to 1 Republican majority in the Legislature, he'd be a nobody, and would have been lucky to get a second term.

Still Trump needs his feet held to the fire. I’ve said before that DeSantis is the real deal. Successful big state governor like Reagan. Just needs more seasoning and failure can be a good learning experience. Remember Reagan lost once and so did BJ. and Nixon.

Great points. America has a history before Trump, and it will have one after. He can be an instrument for good, but he could also suicide bomb the entire conservative movement, if too much trust is placed in him, and him alone. We should be helping steer him, not just pledging allegiance, no matter WHAT.

He has only served one term and had a rubber stamp legislature that crafted the bills for him to sign. He hasn’t proved he can fight anything.

And he sure won’t fight the wishes of the big donors funding him against Trump.

The man has no self awareness. He doesn’t know his audience. In his defence it might be due to his advisors. Those people are blood sucking, bottom feeders. If I went into politics, I would rely on common sense and my own instincts.

You can keep making excuses and by your logic 2024 will be more of the same because of the Senate.

So no need to vote by your logic.

“You’re not going to win elections with unlimited voter fraud being the law of the land”.

I appreciate the sentiment and frustration over voter fraud. The Gore matter was focused on one state only (FL), and he conceded once his appeal to the USSC was denied. Trump was behind in numerous swing states.

To the extent voter fraud is present in certain swing states (PA, MI, WI, AZ, GA) Trump will suffer the same fate in 2024, as those locales remain firmly controlled by Democrats. (GA is controlled by the GOP, but since Trump primaried the sitting governor last year he shouldn’t expect much help there).

DeSantis, on the other hand, could persuade millions of suburban GOP women who abandoned Trump to return to the fold, and possibly overcome the fraud so prevalent in certain inner city areas (Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, Maricopa County, Clark County, Fulton County, etc.). Desantis could also bring other states into play, such as VA, NY and even CO.

I’m embarrassed for DeSantis. He really is naive.

DeSantis is naive for correctly stating the deep state got WORSE under Trump?

How so? Seems quite evident to me.

I think naive would be the Trump supporters who think he will do any better a second time.

Notice I didn't say they think he actually drained the swamp the first time, because even they are admitting that he didn't.

DeSantis, Haley, Ramaswammy and others attack the administrative state as does Trump. The rhetoric needs to be factually accurate while not backfiring.

The problem is a senator in TX, a senator in Ky, a politician in many, many places benefit from their little corner of the swamp. Clean-up the other corner of the swamp, not my corner as something we all need to face and develop a winning strategy. I want it, but don’t see it... the way to win.

"I’m talking about Trump saying if you don’t approve this guy, I’ll keep appointing interims that you hate even more."

I searched for what you claim he said, but nothing came up even related to it. Do you have an exact quote, or source link to make it easier to try to confirm?

On another note, according to this article, Trump wasn't the only President to appointment interim positions. In fact, Congress gave Presidents that right in The Vacancy Act of 1868. So you shouldn't just focus on Trump's interim appointments, but take every President to task that has used it since its passage.

How presidents sidestep the Senate’s ‘advice and consent’ on nominees: New study shows presidents intentionally leave positions vacant or fill them with interim appointees, who help wield authority without Senate confirmation

Trump could have simply returned the documents as requested, not deceived his own attorneys, and this matter would have been resolved quickly. His employees unfortunately are victims of his actions.

Sorry I confirmed nothing but how useless your suggestion is.

Your crystal ball is on the fritz too because we have no ideas what the future will hold re appointments, we have no clue who the Senate leader will be and what the composition in the Senate will be. Trump is keeping his plans on the deep state close to his chest and that’s exactly how it should be. Only a fool would trot them out and give the other side time to work out ways to derail him.

Never.
He will persuade no one. You can roast me all you want but I will never vote for another RINO. The more DeSantis opens his mouth the lower his numbers go. He has the charisma of a wooden Indian and the authenticity of a 3 dollar bill. He won’t even win the primary in his own state.
