During an interview with the Fox News Channel aired on Monday’s broadcast of “Special Report,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that there are two standards of justice, and “Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp.” DeSantis also predicted that Trump would have a “very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need” to take down the administrative state.
DeSantis said, “Well, this is why we say there [are] two standards of justice. If Hunter were a Republican, he’d be in jail by now. You look at all of this smoke, and yet, the FBI, where [are] the search warrants? Where is the grand jury? Where’s the aggressiveness that they’ve shown going after some Republicans? You just don’t see it.”
He added that the treatment of former President Trump is another example of the two tiers of justice and stated that with the Mar-a-Lago raid, they “went through everything they could to get any piece of information. They are not doing that with Hunter. Of course, they didn’t do it with Hillary back in 2016. So, we look at that. But look at all of the possible corruption. Hunter, he’s selling paintings for over a million dollars. My six-year-old daughter does better paintings than him, maybe we’ll put ours up and see what kind of things she can fetch. I don’t think we’re going to get a million dollars on it. We will go in there and we will make all of this stuff better very, very quickly.”
DeSantis continued, “And, look, Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp. My worst critics and

That's because they have their heads up their arse. Simply voting Republican doesn't make you conservative. If you hold your nose to vote for a deceitful, backstabbing Republican, just to keep the seat Republican, you're not helping to fix the problem with the GOP. You are perpetuating the problem. When you vote for the lesser of two evils, after the election is over, you still have evil. I held my nose for many years, and voted for the Bushes, Dole, McCain and Romney. I will never make that mistake ever again. I'd rather sit home, and not vote at all, than vote for someone I know isn't good for America, and will betray me once they are in office.
No one forced Congress to create their own secret hush fund with taxpayer dollars, so they could pay off all the Capitol Hill staffers who brought complaints of sexual harassment against people like Democrat Congressman John Conyers, but they did, and they used it regularly to get rid of those little niggling problems. Why worry about Trump paying tarts off using his own money, when your own Congress was taking money from you, to pay for complaints brought against them?
Shut up, weasel.
We could take DeSantis' statement as quoted in this article, one-by-one, and go over how naive he is, if you would like. And that's being kind, and assuming he's not complicit.
Well that may not be quite the full admission that the 2 tiered justice system got worse under Trump, but it sure sounds at least like an admission that it sure didn't get any better.
We could take DeSantis' statement as quoted in this article, one-by-one, and go over how naive he is, if you would like.
Sure, fire away, because I see no evidence of what you're talking about. I'll even itemize them for you. And I see a lot more weakness in what Trump did at the time than what DeSantis said about it now.
1. “Donald Trump was President for four years. This problem got worse under him. He did not succeed in draining the swamp.”
2. Trump will have a “very difficult time getting the type of personnel to join the administration that you would need” to take down the administrative state.
3. “Well, this is why we say there are two standards of justice. If Hunter were a Republican, he’d be in jail by now. You look at all of this smoke, and yet, the FBI, where are the search warrants? DeSantis compares Trump to Hunter and Hillary, but a.) makes no mention of Joe Biden and b.) makes no mention how Trump doesn't deserve to be charged, while the Bidens and Hillary do.
At best, that makes Ron naive.
Clearly because Trump was investigated, and charged, but they weren't. That was his whole point. Not only is there a 2 tiered system of Justice, Trump played a big part in it by not doing anything to even investigate "Beautiful Hillary" or the Bidens, when he had 4 years to do so. He campaigned on it in fact, then flip flopped on it as soon as he was named President-ELECT. So if anyone is proven naive, it's Trump. He talked all tough, then foolishly tried to play nice, then got waylaid by those willing to do what he only would threaten.
Is that all you got?
To begin with there was the Hillary inspired Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax that was known to and thereby approved by the Obama/Biden Administration. Think about that, a previous POTUS purposely set out to obstruct an incoming administration. That has never happened in American history.
It is worth mention that DeSantis was a Florida House Representative for six years ending his last term in 2018. DeSantis could have had some impact on the “double standard” since he served on the Committee of Oversight and Accountability.
Was Trump wrong March 2017, when he accused the Obama/Biden Administration of spying on him? No he was not, but who believed him? He was not being outrageous or narcissistic. Trump was accurate and told the truth. What did Congressman DeSantis do about all that Hillary/Obama crap from 2012 thru 2018? FYI, DeSantis chaired the Subcommittee on National Security (remember Benghazi?) and served on the Foreign Affairs (Hello Benghazi!!!) and Judiciary Committees. Is DeSantis being naive or duplicitous when he discusses the Double Standard?
Then there were the two Impeachments 1 and 2 and finally the Special Prosecutor Investigation. Impeachment 2 - Trump gets impeached for one phone call with Zelenskyy. While Biden's family made millions off of Ukraine's corrupt company Burisma. Simply unbelievable!
Despite the despicable, malicious, and the bullying behavior of Obama, Biden and Hillary, which recent POTUS was as successful as Trump?
Look at what Trump accomplished in 4 years for the majority of Americans:
The gas price per gallon was about $2.30 vs $3.30 under Biden.
Inflation was about 1.4%, mortgage rates were half of what they are now.
Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything down and we were in the midst of a V-shaped recovery until January 22, 2021.
Tax decrease - tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large.
US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty.
No war in Ukraine, no threat of nuclear war, NATO paid its way.
China was quiet and we were winning the trade war.
US companies were bringing home well paying jobs due to well executed tax treatments.
There was peace in the Middle East, aka Abraham Accords; the US Embassy moved to Jerusalem; and Iran was isolated. Remember Trump's audacious assassination of Iran's Qassem Soleimani? How about Trump destroying Isis in just a matter on months? Trump handled Syria and Russia elegantly.
Trump got three non-left “I don't know what a woman is” Supreme Court Justices on the bench allowing Roe vs Wade to be overturned.
Trump had an excellent Economic Team:

They were brilliant! And do not forget Wilbur Ross.

Funny how Russia was quiet during the Trump Administration. There was no Russian invasion of Ukraine until Biden took over. Why was that?
I hope you remember this:
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nuclear-summit-obama-medvedev-idUSBRE82P0JI20120326
This was a very memorable and strategic event early into Trump's Administration:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/apr/12/trump-xi-jinping-chocolate-cake-syria-strikes
The above is why Putin behaved himself during the Trump Administration. Putin invaded the Ukraine under Biden just like he did under Obama when he claimed Crimea.
Who the heck can accomplish the above in four years while being impeached twice and investigated by the Obama/Biden Weaponized Agencies? Again, talk about “bullying”! Please, spare me!
Trump received 11 million more votes in 2020 over 2016. Never has a sitting President lost when receiving more votes in his reelection bid. Trump increased his vote total by 17+%. Trump can claim victory in 17 of the 18 bellwether counties but still “lost” according to the Dems/MSM?
Do you really believe that Bumbling Biden received 15 million more votes than Hillary? That is an amazing and unbelievable 23% increase in votes for Bumbling Biden than Hillary. The election was blatantly in your face stolen.
Face it, Trump did one hell of a job.
He never said that... I’m saying he should have
Clearly because Trump was investigated, and charged, but they weren't. That was his whole point. Not only is there a 2 tiered system of Justice,
No, that's only half the point.
Ron doesn't show the full magnitude of the two tiered justice system. The charges against Trump are nonsense, the same can not be said about the claims against the Bidens and Hillary. Ron makes no mention of that.
Ron pulls his punches against the deep state.
And that's just one example for starters.
And it was that good job that gave Trump 12 million more votes and that would have given him enough support to defeat the Deep State in 2020.
Of course the Deep State realizing that, stole the damn election.
An act that Ron refuses to talk about.
Which of course is another reason why I have absolutely no confidence that Ron would defeat the Deep State.
That's not the way you worded it. You should have made that clear in your comment.
I don't think you can say they're COMPLETE nonsense, at this point. That audio tape of Trump with the Iran battle plan, if that's what he truly had, is not a complete nothing burger. And if he ordered people to destroy video evidence that was under subpoena, admittedly only alleged at this point, but that's eerily similar to what Clinton was accused of. I think you’re being blind to some possible weak points in Trump’s defense.
But he’s not getting away with it, when she and the Biden’s so far have. A lot of that is on him. He was the supreme law enforcement officer in the country for four years, right after, or even during some of those democratic shenanigans were going on.
Trump was donated $250 million to prove that but never really offered anything up, to support his claim. I thought for sure it was at first, but in the J6 hearings it came out in testimony that most if not all f Trump’s close counsel told him in their professional opinion he actually lost. According to this new indictment, Trump even admitted this himself to others. Guess we’ll learn more in the trial. I hope none of that is true, but Trump hasn’t come up with much of anything concrete to support his claims, and times probably up now.
great, so you’ve said a hundred times. Just how many more must we all endure here? for crying out loud. if people want to vote for DeSantis, THEY WILL. ok you don’t have to keep beating us over the head with trashing President Trump. you act like a leftist/liberal.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
They sound much like the “someone said” variety.
If they exist they are irrelevant because they are brain dead and unable to prioritize. Trying to capture the votes of someone who is closed minded is fruitless. As they suffer in Biden’s economy some may grow up. Finding a new face for them would be throwing the baby out with the bath water. A Romney or other pretend presidential nice guy might have them oohing & ahhing but would accelerate the final days of America as she was intended, the America patriots love.
