Strong economic indicators have continued to make the case for a solid American economy, but a slew of new jobs data has policymakers and consumers looking at current conditions in different ways.

The case for how and what type of unemployment is measured often leaves economists, lawmakers and market watchers at odds over what exactly various jobs data indicators mean for the current employment market and beyond.

Ahead of the government’s jobs reports this morning, The Hill takes a look at the various forces and factors that are moving the employment market

Yes, my thoughts as well. Celebrating bad data as it is a good thing the job market has slowed.

Spinning like a top. Expect to hear nothing but rainbows and unicorns about the economy from now until the election. They have to make the turnip seem like a policy genius to turn his numbers around.

From the headline writing, it appears that the best economic condition is full unemployment.

I’ve always said the American political elite were looking to bring back slavery….

Take a look at the NY Times this morning; the entire front page is about Trump having to go into the DC court. The truth about the Biden crime family is buried back on Page 31 in a hard to find part of the page. Some “newspaper”, the same one that got the “Pulitzer Prize” for Walter Duranty’s lies about the communist-induced Ukraine famine that killed 8 million. The Newspaper of Record.

The Hill isn’t the place to get analysis on economic reports. Come to think of it, there isn’t a single media outlet that I would rely on for analysis. Take a few econ courses in college do it yourself. Btw, 187k jobs were added in July, and the unemployment rate is 3.5%. The labor force participation rate was 62.6 percent for the fifth consecutive month. That’s the important figure btw. The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for May was revised down by 25,000. You just knew that was coming. This month’s figures will be revised down next month, so says my crystal ball.

They can gaslight all they want. Ronald Reagan’s question still stands: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?”

“The US added 187,000 jobs in July, a sign that the labor market continues to roar despite Fed rate hikes. “

And the number was almost 20% less than expected.

If even The Hill organ is only willing to say “solid gains,” it has to be pretty bad.

I was just dropped from the rolls of the unemployed. No, I didn't get a job, my state's unemployment office just denied my annual renewal. I'm still waiting to find out why I was dropped; I was only 20 percent through my limit.

Now, I'm not saying that the job market is not improving...for some. Just not for everyone.

Most of the jobs I've seen have been for specialists (nurses, medical technicians, people with security clearances, &c) and for entry-level jobs.

Just think: if Washington DC were to prune the welfare rolls in the same way, government spending would go down with the reduction of the number of people “on the dole.”

170,000 jobs is “Solid gains” ?

The June rise in employment was downgraded to 185,000 from 209,000. As a result, June and July mark the first months of sub-200,000 job gains since December 2020.

Solid gains? According to the BLS’ own A8 table, we lost almost 600,000 full time jobs and gained about 900,000 part time jobs. That’s a wash at best. Considering those part time jobs likely don’t include paid benefits, it’s a net loss.
