Federal judge tells Trump to respond to DOJ protective order by Monday

A federal judge issued a ruling ordering Donald Trump to respond to a protective order filed by the Justice Department that would block the former president from sharing details of evidence from his Jan. 6 criminal case proceedings.

In a court order filed Saturday afternoon, Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled Trump's legal team must respond to the special counsel's motion by Monday at 5 p.m. The order comes after the DOJ issued a court filing at about 10 p.m. on Friday, calling attention to a message Trump posted on his Truth Social account that prosecutors say raises concerns the former president may improperly share details about his latest criminal proceedings.

The filing does not specifically request a gag order against Trump, which would bar him from discussing the case altogether outside the courtroom or with the media. However, prosecutors noted they are set to share a “substantial” amount of evidence with Trump’s team, which they are trying to keep out of public view while criminal proceedings play out.

We need to remind everyone in government who pays the bills and who’s the boss.

I can’t imagine there is anything worth keeping secret over jan 6th besides a bunch of unarmed Trump voters taking selfies in a public building.

The Judge should mistrial the whole proceeding since Smith voluntarily omitted a great deal of testimony.

So this judge is not smart enough to recognize a violation of Trumps first amendment rights?

Don’t worry this won’t prevent the special inquisitor from leaking damaging information to poison the jury pool and the public

They have to cover up any exonerating evidence from reaching the public

Everyone is presumed innocent til declared guilty.

Should innocent people be deprived of their Constitutional rights?

Since she’s an Obama judge, then no.

Trump’s team’s response should be “If the prosecution won’t leak, we won’t either; but since they already have (let me count the ways), we should get some freebies on the subject.”

Isn’t it everyone is guilty until they prove their innocence? I keep getting confused since they keep changing the rules. /s. But seriously, I have heard the left wing media say exactly the above.

I hope President Trump and his lawyer John Lauro take every single pretrial movement/moment by this judge and appeal it vigorously up the ladder.

First appeal her sitting as the presiding judge as she should have recused herself as Hunter Biden’s law partner.

Then ANY attempt to bar him speaking in a campaign—each and everyone—appealed.

President Trump should demand proof that Chumpkan is a U.S. Citizen.

Judges.. Just another a**h**e lawyer with carte blanche to be an even bigger sh**head than the average lawyer. A chipmunk could get through law school.

Let’s just see the case. Might really help the public to decide about the Biden administration, DOJ, J6 inquiry, Weissman, Smith, and others. I think it’s important that it get out there as soon as possible. They probably want to prevent people from seeing the reviewing the evidence to protect someone………..

AND ITS NOT TRUMP

In all seriousness, you are correct. When I was growing up I thought lawyers had to be highly intelligent and educated. But throughout my professional career I had to deal with lawyers all the time and found the opposite to be true a majority of the time. There’s a lot of people that don’t know the reality of the situation due to a lack of exposure.

It’s Smith and Garland who have been “leaking” all over the place to the WaPo and NYT. I guess it’s because they’re democrats so the law doesn’t apply to them.

Tanya Chutkan will be giving Smith whatever he wants. That is why she was chosen.
